kinda sports related- 4th or 5th grade we were playing pickle at my after school program & I went back into the base which was a fence and as i tried to dive back towards the base my knee went straight into the bolt sticking out of the fence and i was literally stuck to the fence by the bolt sticking out of the gate.

many other injuries playing baseball through college but nothing crazy just the usual
cleated in the face trying to tag a runner stealing second
concusion as me & the left fielder both dove for a ball in shallow left field colliding head to head both in a full out dives ( knocked out cold )
but the worst was pulling the muscle away from the bone in my groin worst nagging injury ever, still to this day bugs me

I played multiple intramural sports in university (ball hockey, volleyball and indoor soccer). The worst injury was when I fell on my stick playing hockey. I tore off a fingernail and had road rash on one side. I got patched up a played the rest of the game. The only injury that put me on the sidelines was a pulled hamstring.

I was playing ultimate football a couple years ago and turned wrong and sprained my ankle. I continued the game, but people got upset because I just stood in the endzone (or whatever it's called) and caught people's passes since I couldn't run. I then continued to proceed throughout the school day, barely able to walk, and then I went to baseball practice. I couldn't swing a bat because I couldn't pivot my foot. Probably not my best choice to walk around on it all day though.

That's about it... I flipped over the handlebars of my bike once but I didn't actually injure myself.

Played baseball from age 5 thru high school, never had an injury, never missed a game.

3 years ago, broke my wrist diving into first playing softball to avoid a tag. Go figure.

Fractured my tibia playing co-ed soccer. Guy got angry and blindsided me with a leg kick. Played sports for 20+ years with no broken bones, effing co-ed soccer.

Playing on the road at UCONN. I'm pass blocking then see an interception thrown right in front of me. I engage a defender who is now blocking for the DB that picked the ball. My foot gets caught in the turf and something snaps. The team doctor comes out and does a Lachman's test and confirms my worst fear, my ACL is gone. I can still remember getting carted off that field and listening to their fans cheer.

That was back on Oct 6, 1986... I still feel the weather change!!

Like many of you, played everything growing up. Year round I was involved in something. All youth sports, college baseball, and "sports" involved with friends equaled no injuries. Fast forward to 2 years ago yesterday (38 years old) some idiot takes me out at short while I'm turning a double play in softball while we are leading 13-1. Breaks fibula, completely separates (breaks off) the outer socket of my fibula, tears my ACL, meniscus was torn to shreds. Multiple surgeries, multiple screws, no walking for 2 months, too many pills, massive depression all done with. Lingering effects are limited flexibility and lots of nerve damage. Next Saturday I will be running my first 10K since it happened.

I have had 4 surgeries in a 10 year span (1997-2006):
1997 - Played in the Top 205 lacrosse camp before my senior year of HS; torn ACL in right knee
1999 - Played for Division III lacrosse team as a starting sophomore goalie; torn all ligaments and chipped bone in right thumb
2002 - Played in co-ed football & soccer; screwed up my right knee again - had a microfracture surgery in right knee
2006 - Still played in co-ed football & soccer; anthroscopic surgery in right knee

And I still play... I love the game...

You are an inspiration, bud, for coming back from a major injury and looking to finish a 10k.

Back in high school I was on second base. The ball was hit to the third baseman. I had a huge lead so when he threw to first I ran and slid into third. little did I know he put his foot there to avoid me sliding in. My ankle bent inward so far it hit my inner shin. I was in a cast for 6 months and a brace for almost a year later. Tore ever single ligament in my ankle. That was the worst pain I ever felt. All I remember is the other coach yelling "tag him he didn't touch the bag"....

I was a catcher in college. Now I have catcher's knees. I never broke a bone in my life but I've pulled/sprain everything. A couple of hyperextended knees, sprain ankles, pulled groins. In college, I had shoulder surgery (torn labrum and rotator cuff). Came back and they told me I needed another one. I said, "No thanks, I'm done."

The worst was when I was catching in college and the batter hit a foul ball straight down and a little bit to the back... it came up and caught me right in the yahoos. Well, it hit the corner of the cup. I groaned like a pregnant cow and just tipped over. The umpire just stood there laughing at me...

I was on third and there was a chopper to first. I probably shouldn't have went, but I did and the catcher had the ball well before I got there, so I tried to dive around him and I broke my humorous in my left arm.

I broke my left pointer finger while catching. The batter hit it when he swing. I caught the rest of the year and it hurt on every pitch. It still pops out to this day.
