Just out of curiosity, what year did you start collecting baseball cards?

I got my first packs in '87, but don't remember much about collecting until I got the '88 KMart Set in my Easter Basket.

The first packs I remember buying were '82 Donruss.

All "portrait" photos with bat on shoulder or headshots if memory serves me right. Still better than the awful '81 Donruss though. The first set me and my buddy tried was the '83 Fleer with the same type of lame batting-cage style photos. Ugh.

We did like Fleer 'cuz most of their photos were from Veterans Stadium, our "home" turf. We didn't know it was 'cuz Fleer was too lazy, cheap, etc. to drive more than 15 minutes from the stadium closest to their HQ for NL-team photos. :lol:

Bought a few packs of Topps in 1987 when the liquor store sold out of Garbage Pail Kids. Didn't do anything for me. Then in 1989 saw a friend with his Padres collection. Collected until 1992 when it got too expensive. Started back up in 2007 when the Jeter/Bush/Mantle gimmick card roused my interest.
