I love the throwback style inserts and brands. Takes me back. They also seem to be wildly popular. This is a weird thread by Sam considering his penchant for nostalgia (old school wrestling, throwback shoes, old movies, original NES and Sega games, old Cardinal players etc)

Maybe thats why many of the bowman chrome signers use "hand me down" markers from past years to sign their cards.

One has to wonder about the margin card manufacturers work with... they generally can't be all that big.

I'm sure Topps has one or two sets with big margins to make up for all the ones with tiny margins.

Licensing obviously cuts down on those margins.

...........that collectors do NOT want second rate knock off versions of products that were once popularized by OTHER baseball card companies?????

Allen and Ginter is one of the most popular products since it was rehashed in 2006.

"Congratulations! You have received a relic card! We cannot say if a player actually used it, what game or event it was from, or what it even came from for that matter, but ENJOY YOUR CARD!"

Yeah, Topps is awesome...lol

They arent fine, not even close.

Wait so them forcing shop owners to buy in large volumes or get cut off wasn't a positive sign?

Or are they finding that the exclusive mlb license is getting hard to make money back on?

Not saying I disagree with you, just intereseted in knowing what inside info you have to indicate they are not doing fine. Last time I checked, Topps was a private company that is not required / and does not make their financials public.

Honest question, do you think chris is saying that because he knows or just because he's guessing?

Or are you answering from a place where you have particular information to refute gilmo's claim?

If Chris wants to prove up that Topps isn't doing well, then show the evidence. Otherwise, we're just swinging our respective dicks.

Allen and Ginter is one of the most popular products since it was rehashed in 2006.

It has little mainstream following outside of A&G fans and set collectors now.

You can't rehas the same thing 8 years straight and expect it to remain just as popular....it's not. Just ask any hobby shop owner....
