What ever happened to the good ole days of getting a baseball card with your food? I remember when you would get a card with your Post cereal or your breakfast sausages. I won't even lie, I always encouraged my mom to buy food based on whether I could get a card inside. The last national set I remember seeing was 2002 Nestle. I know there's been some Pepsi and Post sets since, but I couldn't even find them in my area. Why the decline in these types of tie-ins?

Happened to stumble on some Nascar type cards with sticks of margarine about 5 years back. Bought about 4. Not into Nascar so I ebayed them and they quickly sold and I got free butter! I remember buying so much Kool Aid when I was younger and giving it away to my friends. I was saving points for a Barbie that I promptly sold so the Kool Aid was free. Miss hunting for food issues. Wish I remembered the margarine cards. Quick Google showed nothing. Anyone.

You're looking at it the completely wrong way, and it's probably the way that everybody is looking at it.

The MLBPA should give Post and Pepsi FREE licensing. A small percentage of the kids who end up with them will develope an interest in collecting baseball cards. I better an even larger percentage of people in their 30's and 40's would think back to the days when life was simple and they loved baseball cards, and check out what's going on in the hobby today.

Win-Win. Post sells more cereal, MLBPA gets new customers.

I remember when I was a kid, suffering through an inferior box of cereal just so I could get the baseball card. You know? Mom would be like "You don't want Cinnamon Toast Crunch!?" I'd be like "Nah, they're my favorite, but these Fruity Pebbles come with a baseball card. It might be Rickey!!"

That would be an easy way to get kids and more people in general into collecting. Instead they come up with solutions like "Let's get rid of Donruss, it will make the hobby more kid friendly." ::facepalm::

You "suffered" through Fruity Pebbles? Probably my 2nd favorite cereal ever (PB Cap'n Crunch FTW)

My favorite was the Reggie peanut butter candy bars with the cards.

I'm seeing a theme here.

Fruity Pebbles are awesome, but... they've grown on me. I think it was the baseball cards that helped me develope a taste for them.

I hate PB Crunch. It leaves that waxy film on the roof of your mouth, how can you stand it? Or is it just my mouth that attracts the film? I like Crunch Berries, and nothing is better than ALL Berries if they still make it.

Sadly I'm getting old, and now I eat Rice Chex most of the time, and sometimes Special K. I like special K, but they sometimes have those chunks of rice or something, they make me feel like I just broke a tooth. Now, see, if they came with a baseball card, it would totally be worth a broken tooth.

Twizzlers had a set in the early 00's. I remember persuading the parents to buy a bag of licorice so I could get the card (ended up being a Gary Sheffield).

Post had one in 2001.

Nestle Ice Cream had one in like 2005. Pulled an A-Rod.

I would like to see these come back myself...
