Alright on another trading website theres a question of LT being one of the best rbs of all time....and i said no of course not but i do see him top 5 when his career is all done, and a few ppl are trying to tell me not even top ten.......ARE YOU KIDDING ME? there trying to throw people like curtis martin and jerome bettis ahead of him..I dont get it? sorry for the rant just wanted to hear your guys thoughts.

and some things to think about

as of right now he is sitting at number 14 on the rushing yards list with 11760 and most likely will jump to the 7 spot past tony dorsett if he only gets 1000 yards this season which is a down year for LT..

He also sits number 2 for rushing tds, 36 behind emmitt which could be reached with 4 years of only ten tds, which once again is a bad year for LT...

Some people judge players differently. They might look at how they help the team, running style, or by post season success. Not by overall stats. Tomlinson no doubt helps his team, but he is basically non-existent in January. That is a major knock on him. He has a very good team surrounding him, unlike Barry Sanders, but he doesnt step up when he needs to. As far as Curtis Martin goes, I would definitely throw him in the mix. He is currently number 4 all time in rushing. Most people probably wouldnt even know that. He did it so quietly. Plus, in 10 playoff games, he amassed 1100 total yards. Tomlinson has 460 in 6 games. In the end I do believe he will be a top 5 runningback statistically, but Im not sure I would put him in my top 5. Emmitt, Barry, and Payton are all a given, but the last two are a toss up. Time will tell.

martin may have more yards than tomlinson i playoffs but he barely played due to injuries during those games and martin never won a sb either which is the whole goal of playoffs...You also have to remember the chargers didnt even become a playoff team really untill about three years ago, before that he played with just as bad of team as barry

For what its worth, this is my top 5 RB list

1) Walter Payton
2) Barry Sanders
3) Jim Brown
4) Earl Campbell
5) OJ Simpson

I'm not sure where I would put LT. He's good, but I don't think he would be in my top 10. When he's healthy, he's the best in the league right now...but AP is on his heals...and a lot younger

yeah but i mean at the end of his career LT will be in top 5 and your lost all credibility by not putting emmitt smith in your top 5, people can say what they want about him but he has the most yards and tds in nfl history

Well if it ended today Curtis Martin and Jerome Bettis would be ahead of him for best all time IMO. Are you asking the question as of today or to specualte the future.Part of being a great back is longevity and staying healthy. LT has shown he has all the skills but needs to be a little bit tougher and less of a whiner. There is a reason guys make it into the top 5 rushing yards of all time. They are straight up players with hearts the size of the Empire State building. Which LT has shown as of right now he has little of

I agree with Wheeler. LT plays out of his mind during the regular season, but has been standing on the sidelines the past 2 postseason because of injuries. I wouldn't put him in the top 5 of all time just yet, I would say he'd be about 7 or 8 on my list.

100 percent agree, and in LT's defense...the first few years with chargers he didnt have a chance to play in playoffs because the team sucked, and now that they do make it to the playoffs hes been getting injured in the last few games before plaoyffs which is not his fault, yet people seem to say he has no heart because hes not playing because of injuries....i dont get it, but yeah 7 or 8 seems about right and if he gets into top 5 rushing yards and number 1 in rushing td's i think he HAS to be top 5

I agree that Emmitt was a tremendous back, but I just could not justify putting him ahead of any of the other guys on my list. To each their own I suppose.

IMO the absolute highest he could be would be #5 on anybody's list because Brown, Payton, Sanders, and Smith are all ahead of him. Those 4 are automatic and I don't think I would have him at #5.

Emmitt was lucky enough to survive as long as he did as a RB in the NFL....he's like the Favre of RB's.....minus the "I retire" and "I un-retire" part ::facepalm:: and for that....I think I'd probably put him in the Top 5....but like you said....to each their own....and I don't think you lose any credibility mainly do to the fact that you put The Juice on your list :D
