Never noticed the card says it is game worn memorabilia on the back. With that being said is it a given that this logo came off a jersey?

They're alot more people who know more about shields here but that looks like one from an older Colts jersey, the new NFL Equipment shields have fewer stars I believe(and are attached to the big triangular patch). They have the new ones on their pants leg as well as the neckline.

a forehead south of your moms belly button
i know they are on jerseys (under the v of the neck), on headbands, on wristbands, backs of hats and i believe some towels. that does not look like the shields from jersey to me. however it could be older inventory as well. just be glad it says game used not event worn!

Based on the info on the back of the card, the patch would've come from either a jersey, ball, shoes or pants.

The second one is a laundry tag.

That Manning logo either came off pants or jersey. They dont use logos of that style from anything else unless noted on the card.

Maybe I can get a job working for their quality control department. I decided it would not hurt to call and ask them for help. They said it was a fantastic question and would have to check that out.

It might be the Shield from the front of his jersey.. by the neckline..

I hate to say this because I'll come off sounding like a Jag, but people, take a few minutes and do some research. You'd find out quite a bit with about 5 minutes good minutes spent on the internet.

This is a large community of posters who have different areas of knowledge as it pertains to cards, autographs, and game worn items. When someone within the community has a question, they're first inclination is to come here and ask the other members what they may know on the subject.

So yeah, that's pretty much how it is.

Where do I start?

1. This website is on the Internet
2. Asking a question on a message board full of knowledgeable collectors constitutes 'doing research'
3. Your comment was asinine as all hell

The new Shield was first used in the 2008 season. The shield from the Manning shown is from any jersey 2007 and back.
Another thing, if the window on the card is cut to the shape of the NFL shield then 99% of the time it is real. The Manning should be a #1/1 or #x/5 at the most. It is a REAL GAME WORN shield. Glad I could help.

Thanks to you who have offered your help. Panini did say that the logo came off a jersey.

What would the internet research have done to help me? I know the NFL puts the shield on multiple articles of clothing. I also know that the back of the card never stated if the shield came from pants, cleats or the jersey itself. We have a lot of educated people on this subject with particular emphasis towards writers with details that they post on their various sites/blogs. I can look on the internet all day but would not have found the answer I needed. It took Panini an entire afternoon to figure out the answer to the question.

Where does the NFL put shields?

That was the question. Thanks for the input but really you didn't help at all.

I truly hope these snarky responses to legitimate questions by good members does not become the norm.

This response wasn't meant to be snarky. It was meant to be informative. I guess I missunderstood the question. Sorry if I was no help at all.

I would also like to point out that your response was also snarky. pot/kettle/black I guess we're even. :D

Should have listened to your instincts - they were right.

You may be even with him, but not with me. Hope you have a terrible night's sleep.
