I know that baseball season is upon us and more selling will take place along with the buy low sell high prospects. I was thinking about this everytime I see a thread that has cards for sell that I open and then see make offer. I know there are those cards that are more volitile and lower numbered, but others have a specific range if I am not correct.

I am a reformed make offer guy.

I will send what I have and if the person is interested I will shoot them a price. MAn imagine going shopping and no prices are on the stuff, but you take the item to the counter and they say "make offer." Very few purchases will be made.

Prospecting!! You have to love it. :D

This issue isn't only limited to prospects though.

I think its interesting offers are sent through PM, whats the point with not just posting the price in the thread?

Also, I'm pretty sure the rev was on the other end of the debate when it was brought up a year or so ago...

People who create posts attempting to sell an item, only to want people to submit "offers" for their cards. Doesn't make any sense to me.

you are absolutly correct. I sell very little, as far as prospects are concern and do use pm's to offer, so might reconsider that. Most of the people who I have dealt with on here usually have a price in mind, so pm's don't bother me. It's those who pm for you to offer.

Your card. Your price. My counter or accept.

If someone took the effort to contact you for whatever reason, have the courtesy to reply, even if it is just NO.

One reason I do it is if an item has not sold in a while and I am not sure what it is worth I will sell it to somebody who offers me a price on it.

If it is a player collector I give them a price break.

I hate when people low ball bowman chromes. Because the market value doesn't flucuate much on them. Other day I was asking 21$ gift on my Lars Anderson Chrome auto and they have been from 21-24 delivered on ebay and some one offers 15 gift. Come on! I will not take a 6 dollar hit on a 20$ card. Also people who have no clue when trading. Like my montero auto. Would you trade two Borchering Refractors for it? NO. I will not. What ever have to take the good with the bad! :D :D

What bothers me the most?

Lately, it's this rash of people who go into threads just to CRUSH someone's feelings. Take KentuckyDerby, for instance. EVERY single Razor Legends of the Diamond break has him putting in his two cents about how much the cards can be found for (in worse condition) on eBay -- even if the guy is just saying what he pulled.

Example:

<Breaker> "I pulled a NM7 Enos Slaughter."
<KD> "A completed auction for a 6.5 on eBay for $44 and change"

Really, guy? The breaker was somewhat enjoying his pull -- despite what value it has to you, it may very damn well be worth it to him. Did he say "Quick, someone take 3 minutes to go search eBay"?

No, he didn't... so shut the hell up, man.

PMs going unanswered and people expecting 25-30% below ebay are the things that bother me most. If you are going to ask how much on a card, at least have a general idea what the card goes for. I usually try to price my stuff 5-10% below ebay depending on what it is, and people who waste my time really bother me.

15 isnt the greatest offer but it wasnt terrible, considering the time it saves you not dealing with fees and ebay...

i agree with you...besides one can always counter offer too....and if seller isn't willing to sell for less than ebay, just sell it on ebay.
if item sells for 21 on ebay and someone offers 15, counter 18..no biggee...i personally think someone should accept 80% of ebay pricing...if you get an offer less than 80%, just cunter offer
