Tex. do I blame him for wanting to play for a winner? No. Would I welcome him in Baltimore if he were traded to us tommorow? Yes

Until then he is public enemy number one and a traitor.

We are baseball fans, we get to be a little jealous and irrational

Hating a player because he didnt want to take $20 million less to player for one of the worst franchises in baseball right now is kind of a ridiculous reason to dislike a player. I wish Boston would have nabbed him as well, but I definitely do not dislike him because he chose the Yanks.

soooo you dont like craig biggio because he wont sign baseballs and bats for you...HAH

No but I knew somebody would take it that way.The thing that bothers me about Craig is that he will sign things for you but he will knowingly screw them up and then give you the whole "Well your supposedly a fan so it shouldn't matter what the auto looks like because if you care then your not really a fan" act and it pisses me off.Its his paranoia that causes this.Yeah Craig...we all stand in line hours on end so we can get things signed just so we can turn around and make about $50.Hell...I'd be better off working a part time job at a McDonald's.Seriously...give me a break.Hell...even the owner of one of the shops I frequent says its hard for him to carry Biggio stuff because if he can't get it much cheaper if any, than a normal paying fan so he basically just doesn't carry it because people wouldn't pay enough for it to be worth it.But I think it sucks you have a nice item to get signed and he will make a nasty and small auto on it(no matter how dang big the item is) just soley because he is worried about you making a buck off of it.That to me is a pretty odd way to deal with fans.

In any case , like I have said, I have heard some really bad stories .It was from people I know and am really good friends with. There are a small amount of people I actually trust and believe and they happen to fall on that short list. Not because of what they said about Craig but because I have known them for years and totally believe they would not lie to me.After a while you start to add things up and you realize he isn't the angel everyone makes him out to be.Even the hardcore fans I see and talk to will admit what a pain in the ass he can be and how rude he can be about things.

Yeah...well you are also a fan of a guy who screws autos up for his fans too then since most of the people who bother to go are fans and not dealers since the dealers know that its not worth their time.Oh...and just to let you know...how he does autos for kids is a coin flip at best.I understand no athlete is obligated to do jack for anyone but I have never encountered a person more concerned with people selling his auto.He makes it super hard to get and he can be a real ass because of his concern. He will and does screw up people's items.

I think its kind wrong on a certain level that dealers pull some of the crap they do but what he does affects all fans.A lot of people spend a lot of money every year on stuff pertaining to him and I am just a little sick and tired of it not being appreciated.I mean...kids are not the only fans you know. And its a lot harder to spend that money or take that time out if you have a wife and a house note and life coming at you full blast like normal. If you don't want to sign stuff that's cool but don't sign and then make things look awful. There is really nothing he can say in his defense that would make it cool with me(which in reality doesn't mean a hill of beans to anyone I suppose) but I will take to my grave the notion he is a self serving ****** bag.The man has made more money than I will ever see which is cool but to sit there and harp on something like this seems a little odd to me.

Sorry Pred, you're a great member here & one of the member's whose opinion I respect but I wholeheartedly have to disagree with ya on your opinion on Biggio; as I've "heard" this from collector's before but I've "seen & experienced" different! I've stood at pregame warmup's & seen him sign to a pile of grownup's (laughing & smiling as he chatted them up). I've met him on 2 occassion's (once at a charity event & once at the Galleria- where he signed for me "during a meal"- of course it was for a gift for my girl at the time but it was "during a meal" man! ). I've heard the rumor's & myth's of ballplayer's acting certain way's about signing, but what I don't think the people that had the bad experience's realize is that everyone (including ballplayer's) has a bad day; where they want to be left alone because maybe nothing is going right (I know I've had PLENTY). I think many player's get a bad rep over these "bad experience's" & it is quite sad actually, but I know human nature & how it puts way too much stock in a "First Impression" (& with these ballplayer's alot of the time a first impression is the only one they'll have on many fan's, due to the lack of accessibility of the player's to the fan's). Anyhow good post Pred. & I respect your opinion on Biggio as it may be justified to you because the few times you've seen him he was an arse, but I also know what I've seen & experienced & know well enough that there is probably a middle ground to Biggio (& not likely the grueling ***** which you've made him out to be). :D Anyhow, great post (as usual)! Later bud, Dave. :D

No...you're wrong!He's still a *****!

Seriously I don't doubt he can be a great guy but I have had about 4 encounters plus the numerous others I hear about. And they are not just some random *******.Its people I respect and really know.People who are pretty level headed.People who have been around the scene for a while. The hardcore collectors of autos are a pretty tight knit community around here. You see the same faces year after year around here and they always let you know who the real fans are.I'm talking about standing in line for 8 hours or more in the freezing cold or the heat to get one autograph just because you're a fan.Does anyone owe you anything? Not necessarily per se but then again...why penalize these people because there are a-hole dealers who may make a buck off of your john hancock?

I guess I just don't see why he cares.I know this has been hashed out before because someone mentioned that in their later years in life some athletes need their autos to still be worth something so they can make money doing signings at shows. But with what players make today...that sounds like BS.

I know most won't agree and I will never argue that I am entitled to anything for being a fan but I will never let anyone convince me fans are not to be appreciated or that a player should do a half ass job on something because he's worried you may sell it.If I see you at a game and you want to side panel my ball...fine.But don't make me wait for 8 hours and then sign an auto about the size of my pinky on a framed and matted lithograph I took the time to find and buy.If you do...well I can't be cool with that.I'd rather just not get it signed at all and that is why I no longer go after his autos.

I respect your opinion

I think it would be better off saying "Everyone who was on a world series winning team and acted like a ******* in said series raise their hand!". ;)

I was raised a yankees fan so i literally dislike anything out of Boston. The sox, the celtics, the Pats(big time), the bruins( i dont even watch nhl)

Hell I even dislike Ben Affleck

On the players list :

Beckett = dude is the cockiest son of a #$%$# in baseball

Felix Hernandez is the second cockiest dude.

A.J. Perskenkiwhatever just seems to play dirty to me.

Ryan Braun = thinks he`s the man... quickly moving up the cocky list.

My issues are with people`s ego`s and persona.. dont know any of them
