You can certainly discuss but I'm not really looking for a debate. Just your opinion if you think they will end up in the HOF some day.

Most of these players are close to having 10 years of MLB service or just achieved that recently in the past couple years.

They are all also between ages of 30-34 and have a few to many years to play. Pick as many as you like.

If you select them, you are banking they will accumulate HOF-type numbers/awards.

Simply don't vote :? You really think NONE of these guys will make the HOF?

Gotta agree, I see zero on the radar...

yes, I think Jimmy Rollins and Lance Berkman are on track for the HOF.

I'm not asking who is going to be in the HOF if they retired today...most of these guys aren't eligible. But a couple of them have a great shot and others have a decent shot.

I like Soriano's chances, and I think that Berkman might be the only other one with a decent shot. Soriano's power/speed numbers are pretty impressive to this point (especially for someone who was a middle-infielder much of his career) and I think he should bounce back from injury well.

This isn't a list of "these were the 10 best players that have a shot at the HOF"

It's just a poll. Don't take offense if your guy isn't on the list or if you think someone has a better shot. I was curious about people's opinions on these 10 players, that's it.

As biased as this may sound I put Beltran on the list before Carlos Lee.

I'm not sure Soriano is going to hold up. He def. has put up some impressive numbers thus far but I don't see him being a 30-30 guy anymore and maybe only 1-2 more 20/20 seasons.

I'll be disappointed if even one of these players makes the Hall. Rollins has the best chance.

Ha, have any of the recent HOF additions NOT disappointed you? It's getting worse every year.

PLaying much of his career at 2nd base (the toughest position for a hitter after catcher) Soriano has 290 homers and over 250 steals. He had a rough season this year (I believe he was hampered with injuries much of the season) but last season he hit 29 homers despite missing time. At 33 years old there's no reason (if he can stay healthy) that he can't play for another 5 seasons, and if he does so he could easily wind up with 400 homers and 300 steals. To me that's pretty much a HOFer.

Berkman is the only one of all of these that has a chance, though more seasons like this past year won't help.

Bored at work today...

Renteria - No way. Good player, solid contributor. He hasnever been considered the best player on his team, only made top twenty in MVP voting twice. OPS trending WAY down. 0.860 in 2007, 0.699 in 2008 and only 0.635 this year.

Michael Young - Maybe - If he ever plays for a winner. That's not to say he isn't a good player, but by far the Hall of Fame voters are much more impressed if you play on teams that at least make the playoffs. He pulls another 2005 and then lets start talking.

Carlos Lee - Nope Only three All Star games. Once again, has he ever been the best player on a team? HR trends - 37 in 2006, 32 in 2007, 28 in 2008, 26 in 2009 (playing half his games in the Juice Box).

Andruw Jones - Maybe if he gets back on track. But I don't that is happening. Bottomline here. 11 straight Gold Gloves and 5 All Star appearances. Considered the best centerfielder in the NL for about 8 years (all due respect to Jim Edmonds). But batting less than .230 for the last three years. Yikes.

Lance Berkman - Leaning towards no. This one might have some wheels, but he needs more. Like an MVP or something. (See Jim Rice and Ryne Sandberg- the Hall loves MVP's) He could switch over to AL and DH and play until he is 40.

Alfonso Soriano - Maybe I think he has a shot. Bill James thinks that sluggers with speed age well. So far Soriano has not. Let's see if he can play 140 games in a season again. But is another 125 homeruns possible?

Aramis Ramirez - No. Even the Cubs fan in me says no. Only two All-Star games? Has he ever led the league in anything? Very good player. But not HOF.

Rafael Furcal - No. Once again - almost no All-Star games. Good player but not HOF. I wish the Cubs had gone after him in the winter of 2005. Instead we got a season Ronny Cedeno.

Torii Hunter - No. Defensive master. But if you put Torii Hunter in, then so goes Jim Edmonds and and Larry Walker better be in.

Jimmy Rollins - Top shortstop in the NL for about three years. Has an MVP but only 3 All-Star appearances. Let's say he sticks around and plays another 8 years, scores 1700 runs and ends up with around 2800 hits plus 500 doubles with a few more trips to the postseason. Then yes. HOF.

All good players who had some superstar type seasons, but none of these guys had the type of career of a Hall of Famer. Off the top of my head, HOFers playing today:

Hitters: Pujols, Griffey, Jeter, Vlad, Chipper, Pudge, Manny/Arod (steroids), Ichiro
Pitchers:Big Unit, Rivera, Smoltz, Hoffman, Pedro,

Maybes: Halladay, Pettitte, Thome, Johan

I may have forgotten some obvious ones, but my standards are pretty high.

Rollins also has two Gold Gloves and a World Series ring. He probably needs to get 3000 hits to guarantee entry. Turns 31 in November and needs 1371 more hits for 3000 so it is possible. He's going to need to stay healthy and hit better than .250 like he did this year though.

+1; can't say it any better. I only voted for Soriano.
