1977 Topps - The first year I really started collecting. I'd bug my mom for some change, then go to Woolworths and dig through the cello packs to find the ones with a Yankee on the top or bottom of the pack (like Reggie w/ the airbrushed helmet).

1984 Donruss - It took me forever to pull a Mattingly, but the wait was worth it. Love that set.

2004 SP Prospects - I had some good pulls from the first box I bought, so I bought some more and put the set together.

#2 on my list. Was a real fun rip while it was affordable.

2005 Prime Cuts baseball
2005 Absolute Update baseball

and basically any other 2005 Donruss baseball products.

As far as football - I love opening Elite and Classics every year and pulling all the rookies. Gridiron Gear and SPx are always fun too.

08 Bowman Jumbos were a ton of fun even though I don't believe I pulled anything big from them.

I really enjoy 08 BDP too.

1998 Donruss or 1998 Leaf.

These IMO stand the test of time, opening them even ten years after their release is still fun, and I still recognize the hits *and* the players. Can we say the same about the other products in this post?

07 Bowman sterling was great as was 08 sterling I pulled 3 red ref's out of 6 boxes. I also liked the fact that the big cards Red Ref's black ref's and golds were in the packs not just in box toppers.

I too enjoyed the 08 Prime cuts and pulled a sic cut out of that product but I do believe that my favorite was 04 Sweet Spot it is what brought me back in the hobby and i still have the quad sticks card of arod, ichiro, pujols, griffey junior i pulled out of my first hobby box.

For me it was 06 Bowman Jumbos...I just started into prospecting and bought one box and pulled an Alex Gordon orange ref, which I promptly sold for $550! It's been all downhill with my box breaks ever since!

No, I didn't pull the Poreda (I bought it off eBay). I did pull the Kris Johnson super from 06 BDP, but he hasn't done much...
