Wil Myers and Josh Sale were two of my highly touted prospects that, for one reason or another, did not live up to the hype in 2011.

My vote for most disappointing is for Sale because I thought his bat would translate better than it did in pro ball. Who else ya got?

Honorable mention to: Randal Grichuk, Matt Hobgood, Jio Mier, Delino DeShields, Jr.

I definitely agree with you on Josh Sale, but Justin O' Conners had a terrible season that many people didn't expect.

All of the above, except maybe Franklin, he actually played well for the most part. He was just injured for a while.

Let me throw in Jason Knapp, based on the fact I'm tired of seeing someone with his talent hurt all of the time.

Donovan Tate sucked again, not a surprise anymore.

Wasn't Lipka supposed to be better than he was?

I think Myers takes the cake here...he was top 15 for most people heading into the season and gave us no reason to think he's going to be anything special at all. Granted, he was still young for Double-A, but this was not a very impressive season for someone who was tagged as a TOP prospect going into 2011.

I'm not that disappointed in Rizzo. He definitely out did his expectations even making it to the big club this year. Problem is, he was on such a tear in the minors this year, we then expected that to translate to the Padres. Next year will be a big one for Rizzo, hopefully he can fix the holes in his swing.

In other news, you see Latos' start last night?

I think the early season injury compounded with the staph infection slowed down his progress tremendously. Hosmer had a similarly disappointing season in 2009 and followed it up with an outstanding season in 2010. Hopefully, Myers can follow suit next season and I'm not too concerned about his performance this year. However, another season like this and he won't be considered a top prospect anymore.

Good call. Completely forgot about Lipka but he deserves to be high on the list of 2011 disappointments.

That is true he had a good minor league season, just couldnt put it together at the MLB level. Yes Mat looked amazing but sadly he couldnt have starts like that at the beginning of the year. Hopefully next year he'll be back :)

Outside of his 2 injuries and the week before and after each, Grichuk batted WELL over .300.
Im definitely not disappointed. He showed a little of everything; hitting for average, power, showed his speed and his glove.
If he can put it together for a full season, people will see this kid has a load of talent.
