Working on a stash, and trying to decide between picking up either a single gold or orange ref auto, or about 4 base ref autos. I really don't care one way or the other. I have made a decent amount of progress on the stash already, but the gold/orange would be the highest end card of the stash. At the same time, "big-card flair" really doesn't matter to me, so it is flat out a question of which you think would be the better investment for flipping purposes.

Which would you pickup?

I chose the 4 refractors.

It has been my experience that in building a stash, up to Blue Refractors, the base through blues have the highest % of ROI.

Though, the Gold's are EXTREMELY pretty, there is not guarantee you will be making much of an ROI in the future (if this is for purely investment potential).

I love when people start throwing around ROI, :P .

The best money returners time and again are the base. Most people overlook them because they are base and the lowest price, but they do in fact offer you the best return. And it pretty much goes up the line with refractors, blue refractors. The more limited the card, the smaller the return.

I agree to a point...I made a killing on Hanson parallels......his base cards haven't moved up or down in price in almost 3 months....the refractor has gone for 23 to 60 for example (the range of which they have sold, last one sold for 50 where the last base hanson went for 5).

:D

It's the example you make above the reason why I brought it up ;)

If people are adamant about making money, they are best suited to going with the lower priced cards when building a stash, IMO.

Now, I know money can be made on Golds on up, but you normally have to get a GOOD deal on them to really make a profit.

WIth higher end guys, you are better off going with base. With a decrease or increase in price, there will always be demand for the cards and you probably will get a higher ROI.

I would say with higher risk guys and lower end guys, you should go with high end. (4) ref autos of a lower end guy is gonna be much harder to move quickly than the (1) Gold ref. Even with the higher ROI, it is just easier to have a few big cards than tons of lower end cards that may end up being impossible to move with ebay fees/shipping fees factored in.
