While we're throwing out Halladay deals, Sox?

This is what I could possibly see happening if the Sox get involved in the Halladay talks. The Phillies need a starter and have inquired about Brad Penny before. The Sox send Penny and a lower tiered prospect to Philly for Jason Donald. The Sox then send Donald, Buchholz, Bard, and maybe a Reddick or Kalish type in return for Halladay. The Sox will have to move Penny in any deal for Halladay because they already have too many pitchers in their rotation to begin with. This way the Sox keep their 1B of the future in Lars, and a starter in Bowden and the Jays get their SS of the future and a possible ace and closer in Buchholz and Bard. What does everyone think? Note: I am a Sox fan, and would rather have the Sox not trade for Halladay and trade for a bat instead.

This seems pretty spot on, but as stated in the thread before Bard is not going anywhere in case Pap walks. I would see maybe substituting Bard with a lower tier pitching prospect (Doubront, H Jones, Huntzinger, Richardson) paired with a Bates, Wagner, Exposito type.

The problem with any of these discussions is that people only look at what they'd like to give up.
Do I want to give up Bard? No.
If I'm the Jays, do I demand Bard? Yup. How much money have they wasted on BJ Ryan? Do they have a closer in the pipeline? None that come to mind.

But if the Sox get Halladay, there's no question they do so with confidence they can sign an extension. And if they do that, the only thing stopping this staff is an injury.
