I have had as a goal for a while to have all of David Ortiz 1997 MLB cards. I got outbid on a few of these and finally won one. I'm taking a break from buying, but this being one of my last 10 cards or so is great.

How much do those go for? I remember them when they came out. Are they numbered?

I am not getting out of hobby, just not buying much until I get married. If I see a super or something, MAYBE will try for it. But just trying to save money.

Awsomeness, and nice price!

I just picked up the Manny and Biggio from that set for $30 total, which makes me very happy. I stumbled upon them and was shocked how low they were. I have been looking for them for a while.

For not being #'d in 1997, they are still hard to find and very nice looking cards.

The one I got outbid on this summer went for 450+

Awesome card!!

Thanks I have a few great maildays in the next week, then won't for a bit. But I had a great last run here. This was the last huge Ortiz card I wanted that had a print run of more than 1.

Nice!I finally got around to snagging a regular fleer rookie of his.

By chance...how often do the 1998 Bowman autographs pop up?I pulled one a long while back.I am not looking to sell it but I just have a hard time believing it goes for what the BV on it is.

platinum medallion = #/100

Not numbered though in 1997.
I thought the '97s PMs were printed to 150.

Beautiful card, btw. It presents very nicely in the SGC slab.

Honestly not sure, just know it's probably his #2 rookie card and I have looked for one for about 5 years.

A Dominican friend of mine explained it as in their culture you can put your fathers name and then mothers on documents, he said that Ortiz probably put David Oriz Arias (If that was his mom's maiden name) and card companies got confused.
