I don't think people realize how good Justin Morneau has been this year.

I agree, I think he has to be in consideration for AL MVP. His numbers are plain ridiculous so far.

.383BA 11HR 34RBI .497OBP .701SLG 1.199OPS 35SO 35BB 154AB

Compare that to Cabrera

.331BA 10HR 40RBI .415OBP .598SLG 1.012OPS 25SO 23BB 169AB

IMO Morneau is clearly having the better season between those two.

idk about clearly better...he has 1 more hr and a better avg...while cabrera has 6 more rbi's (it will most likely come down to who wins there division)

Pretty sure I'd take Morneau's 1 HR, 10 more BB's and 50 points in BA, to Cabrera's 6 RBI advantage.

RBIs are one of the least important stats to me since they are predicated on the team being able to get runners on base.

But even factoring those in, Morneau is ahead of Cabrera in SLG, OBP and OPS. Also, it's not like he's just "barely" ahead - these stats seem more than enough to make up for the six RBI difference. The only thing other than RBIs that Cabrera seems to be ahead of Morneau in are his RISP statistics.

morneaus avg is going to drop to around 320 and that were cabrera will be at as well...i think they will end up with similar stats and it will go to the division leader

You forgot to mention the huge difference in OBP and Slugging, Morneau is clearly, at this point having a better season that Cabrera. Also, as great of a season that Morneau is putting together so far, he is struggling with RISP, something like 1/7 with 3 RBI's with the bases loaded.

If you have that good of foresight, you should be playing the lottery.

It's fun to be a homer, but being a blind homer isn't good.

Everyone said Mauer's average would drop a ton last year when he was near .400. It dropped, but not to the .330 that "experts" thought ...

mauer is a different story though...im basing my point that his avg will drop to 320 due to the fact that the highest he has ever hit is 321 and has a career avg of 285

Not sure if this is a proper term after already having won an MVP, but...breakout season? He is seeing the ball better than ever this year.

True, but, everyone has career years. Jose Batista has never hit more than 16 HR's in a season. He has 14 and it isn't even Memorial Day ...

Read past stats doesn't project what this season or season's to come hold.
