It is safe to assume we know who the MVPs will be in both leagues.

I'd like to discuss the players who you feel should get a few votes?

It may be a biased pick but my choice is Anthony Rendon. The kid has been amazing and very consistent throughout most of the season. I also think a lot of people are not realizing how good of a season he is having.

Homer writers always throw a few 5th or 10th place votes to their local stars.
For instance, last year, 22 different players received votes for the AL MVP Award, even though Cabrera, Trout and maybe Chris Davis were the only real candidates.

A hometown writer even gave Josh Donaldson a 1st place vote, ahead of Cabrera and Trout.
Coco Crisp, Jason Kipnis and Salvador Perez were among the players who received at least one vote from local voters.

I guess it's a good way to reward players for having a good season, but it can also prevent worthy players from receiving enough votes.
Imagine if Cabrera and Trout were within a point of winning the MVP last year, and the Oakland voter who chose Donaldson as MVP prevented either Cabrera or Trout from winning.

So this year, expect at least one player from every team to get a vote.
My team, the Rangers, will most likely have Adrian Beltre as the nominee.

Sorry to get off topic a bit. :)

I honestly think Jose Abreu should win the MVP award over Trout
I agree.
Trout may be on the best team, but he's having a down year for him. (.286, 33 homers, 106 rbi)
Abreu has been phenominal and is still a Triple Crown contender (.320, 34 homers 100 rbi)

Trout will probably win because he's Trout and the Angels have the best record, but he's not the 5-tool threat he was his first two seasons.

Uhhh... Victor Martinez? He's having a MONSTER season on a team in a war for 1st place and no one seems to notice. He's having a better season than almost everyone.

I don't see how Trout won't win it...he's having a down year by his standards maybe, but it's still right up there with the best in the league AND his team is going to the playoffs this year (perhaps the biggest argument against him in years past).

IMO Victor Martinez is probably having the most impressive offensive season across the board, but he's not going to win the award.

Matt Holliday won't win it and doesn't deserve to, but I wouldn't be surprised if a voter or two goes his way after this extremely hot post All Star Break.

If the season ended today:

For AL I would go V Martinez

For NL I would go Stanton

Stanton being out might change this. I could see a pitcher like Kershaw winning the NL. AL is still close. With Trout and Abreu.

Shall I be the one to say it? I would almost guarantee Jeter gets some votes from homer writers or somewhere. Obviously he doesn't deserve any awards for his subpar season but I would bet he gets a few votes in the 7-10 range

I think Josh Harrison of the Pirates will get a few MVP votes. He will probably win the NL batting title.

I doubt he will get any votes. He is having a very solid Season, but he's not even the MVP of his own team, by far. Leading the league in one category doesn't get you many votes, if any.

You do realize that more than 20 players in each league receive MVP votes every year, don't you? Last year, 24 different NL players got MVP votes.
Voters can choose up to 10 players each, so yes, Harrison will receive votes for playing multiple positions and excelling at both offense and defense.
Harrison was arguably more valuable than McCutchen this season because of his versatility.
