Since we're still a ways from the end of the season, I've made this a long-term poll. You can vote now, and if you decide to change it later, post who you've changed your vote to.

If "other", please post who you'd choose instead.

Doesn't the 1st pick automatically go to the Nats?
I thought they get that pick every year? JK. :D

I see it going to the Royals. They are the worst team in the league to me. Since their hot start, they have been the worst team in baseball and now find themselves only 3 games behind the Nationals for worst record in baseball. If the Nats get ousted of that top (or last) slot and Harper is in the draft, they should really regret it. I get that Jim Riggleman wants to do a good job/put himself in a better position for another managing gig next season, but the Nationals as an organization really need Bryce Harper. Then again, so do the Royals, Pirates and Padres.

My vote goes to the Pirates. They'd be a middle tier AAA team at this point. Poor Zack Duke...

I hope it is the Royals so if we dont get Harper KC can run Dayton Moore out of town.

I'll bet the Nats offered their manager an off-the-books bonus to coach them out of last place so they don't have to sign Harper next season. With the amount of money they will have to shell out for unproven Strasburg, I'm certain they would rather not have to do it all over again the next season for unproven Harper. I'll bet they would rather pick 2nd or 3rd.

I think the Nationals organization would be a little relieved to not have the #1 pick, not just because they wouldn't technically be the worst. Obviously the organization "needs" Harper, but assuming they sign Strasburg, that's a ton of money to have tied up in two players from the past two drafts. It would be pretty cool to see Strasburg throwing to Harper in a few years though. I'd kinda like to see the DBacks fade and get #1, Upton and Harper would be fun.

Harper will almost certainly command more than Strasburg, barring injury. Plus, he'll have more leverage as well.

KC has a good history with Boras, but will they be able to afford Harper?

Mr Glass has made something like a $500 million profit since he bought the team. They've been trying to sign guys to contract above market but have been told no consistently. They'll draft and sign him if he's available.
