Why would you hire Matt Millen to be a football analyst? He's on Game Day right now, but I've also heard he does a fair deal of college prospect reports.

Really? The guy who drafted 15,000 wide receivers #1 overall every year, and couldn't build a .500 team to save his life is telling you what to think of the expectations and highlights collegiate athletes?

That would be like hiring the captain of the Titanic to write a regular column in Luxury Yacht Magazine...

What do you mean? He can build a super bowl winner faster than any other analyst. Just take everything he says, do the opposite and within 5 years you will have a super bowl winner. He is an Expert.

He has zero credability! He had 100% reign of a frnachise, and lead it to the worst 7 year stretch any pro team has ever suffered. It will take years for the Lions to recover! He is an idiot, and I can't even watch him. I am not even a Lions fan, just have no respect for any of his opinions.

I somewhat agree. But, and it's a big but, before he took over the Lions he was considered one of the best game analysts. And there is the rub. I still think he does a good job when breaking down what is going on during a game. However, that in no way translates to being a respectable talent evaluator.

Matt Millen is an excellent commentator and analyst. He was doing the TV gig before he became head of the Lions. He's just terrible as a team executive. And for whoever said he has no credibility, that is ridiculous, the guy has 4 Super Bowl rings.

Two with the Raiders, one with the 49ers, and one with the Redskins although he didn't play in the actual Super Bowl. All as a player. I think that would surprise alot of people. I know I was a little.

He started almost every game he played (as a LB).

I never realized he was born in Pennsylvania.

Wow, Matt Millen and Steve Young got into it in the pregame tonight!

I almost fell out of my chair when Millen yelled at Young "You're wrong!" Steve couldn't believe it

Millen is fine as a commentator. At least he can speak clearly and concise. Some of the former NFL players that ESPN and NFL Network hire are so much worse. Millen was on TV before he destroyed the Lions and was fine then. No one is going to argue that he was absolutely terrible managing a team, but he hasn't done anything terrible on TV yet

True about former players.

I need a translator to understand what Shannon Sharpe says, and the translator doesn't know half the time. It sounds like he has a mouth full of Snickers.

Then there's Michael Strahan who can't say an "S" to save his life. "Ubwatht Five Dollar Footlong". I know that people have speech problems, and I don't mean to pick, but I don't want those people calling/analyzing a game.

I also hate Bill Cowher's voice.
