The best hitter, if he wanted to be and/or when he wants to be is Manny Ramirez. When he is locked in he is the best hitter in the world. When hes "being Manny" well, you never know what your going to get. I do know, if I needed a run driven in for my life, be it a homerun or double, I would want Manny at the plate.

If I was starting a team today and got to pick 1 guy it would be Pujols. Arod is a great player but too many distractions. Going on just pure talent though you might as well flip a coin. Still, I believe IF he wanted to be, Manny could be better than anyone in the game.

1a. Pujols
1b. Arod
3. Manny

I voted for A-Rod because of the edge on stolen bases, homerun and RBI production. Pujols is by FAR a better hitter, but I think overall, including defense and speed, goes to Rodriguez. I also agree about Manny... but I think he will stick around long enough to show everyone how a truly great run producer's career stats should look.

The only thing Manny has done to deter people from seeing him for what he truly is are his antics. He kinda loafs it out there sometimes and does so many crazy things a lot of people do not take him seriously. If he gave it 100% all of the time instead of missing routine stuff or making bad throws or watching a ball that should have been an easy double or triple turn into a single because he at first thought it was a homer...he may actually prove himself to be on of the top players in the game.Until then...he still has to prove he can grow up.Otherwise I agree about him being one hell of a hitter!

It's gotta be Pujols, then Hanley. Hanley hasn't had his opportunity in the playoffs yet, but I would still rather see him up than A-Rod anyway.

I voted for Pujols.

I can think of about 80-100 other guys I'd have in front of Jeter, though. He in no way deserves to be on this list. If he wasn't a Yankee, you'd never hear about him any more than the average player.

Pujols. No question.

Yes, I may be a homer, but I see him play every game he plays. Pitchers are scared of him. He's the MVP. He does many, many great things for charity. Should of won a Gold Glove this year. No one compares.

I would never doubt that Pujols is a better overall hitter than A-Rod, but I think Rodriguez has the advantage in defense, stolen bases (speed), homeruns (power) and run production... thus in my opinion, making him a better overall player. Although, obviously I would rather have Pujols in any clutch hitting situation.

Did you notice that the OP said what they do off the field also? With that in consideration, Pujols is BY FAR the #1 choice. He does so many great things off the field, while Rodriguez only causes controversy off the field.

I did take that into consideration, seeing that I am the OP, but I don't think it is enough to overshadow what he does on the field. If A-Rod was a spousal-abuser or a doper, I would think twice... he just doesn't make good off-the-field decisions, that doesn't really affect my overall opinion on him.
