I agree with you. But here's something to consider. If Pujols hits like he has the past two months in August and September and finishes with .310 AVG, 40+ HR 120+ RBI and Trumbo has more than 40 homers, do they take votes away from Trout and Miggy sneaks in?
Can't the same be said against Cabrera if Fielder takes votes away from him?

Fielder has been a very valuable part of Detroit's offense, but I don't think he's even close to being in the discussion for MVP because Cabrera has clearly been better than him across the board this year. He may finish top 10, but he won't get 1st place votes.

Yes I agree, but markakis' argument was that if Pujols hits like he has over the past two months for the rest of the season...Fielder could hit like that until Oct and easily take votes from Cabrera. If both of those scenarios happen will another candidate step out of the shadows and take the prize?

If Pujols hits like he has the past two months and Fielder hits like he has the past two months, Pujols will stand out as a LEGIT MVP candidate and Prince will simply just grab a couple 8th, 9th, and 10th place votes.

Fielder is having a nice year and that's it. Nothing to take votes away from Miggy. Pujols will take 1st and 2nd and 3rd places votes away from Trout - and I could see Trumbo doing that too if he goes in a HR binge late in the game.

Hard to say right now. I'm rooting for Trout - how awesome would that be? But I think right now, at this point, I would give it to Cano - ugh, hate to say that.

How about you?

If I had to rank them:

1. Cano
2. Hamilton
3. Trout
4. Konerko
5. Trumbo
6. Ortiz
That was my exact order, except no Ortiz

I don't think he should/could or would win it but I think people are underrating the season David Ortiz is having.

Ortiz: .316 BA, 23 HR, 58 RBI, .414 OBP, .609 SLG, 1.024 OPS
Trout:.346 BA, 19 HR, 58 RBI, .407 OBP, .597 SLG, 1.004 OPS

Trout has just 36 walks and 80 K's while Ortiz has 56 Walks to only 49 K's.

Obviously the average and of course the steals are higher for Trout but everything else favors Ortiz statistically. I know, I know, he doesnt play the field. We get it.

Based on Steals, defence and the fact that the LAA are playing better than BOS, Trout

Maybe Edwin Encarnacion

He also plays the majority of his at bats in a glorified softball field

I made this thread a month and a half ago and Ortiz was definitely in the discussion then. But now that he's hurt and Boston is under .500....he will need to go on a tear and push Boston into the playoffs for him to be back in the discussion, which I don't see happening. If Boston pulls it out, it won't solely be b/c of Ortiz.

I would say Papi is out of the running at this point and won't get back in.

All these Trout "fanboys" have hopped on the train and think he's gonna be the MVP......LOL

Well, I think he will because ever since his callup he's woken up Pujols, added energy and completely changed the mindset of his team around. MVP=player most valuable to his team. #'s don't matter as much. Hell, Terry Pendleton, Dustin Pedroia and Jimmy Rollins won the MVP award and they didn't even have the #'s that stacked up against the other players those years but it was what they did for THEIR TEAM to get their team to where they were for that year. And Cabrera/Fielder back to back? It's a crapshoot on whose gonna see the pitches to hit.

take cabrera off the tigers and their ten games back in their division..he has single handedly won and tied 7 plus games in late innings that i can remember of this year alone...trout obviously made that team better, if your a great player thats what you do, its going to be a tight race and i think trout by the end of his career will have multiple mvp's...but i just really think it is cabreras year.

In a couple months though, who knows? A player could make a huge run from here on out. Baseball is a crazy game like that.

This thread shows how true this is. The poll from 6 weeks ago doesn't include the front runners. 6 weeks from now, the same thing might happen if we look back at the new thread that may or may not get created.

I like it when you speak Canadian, eh.
