Cris Carter and Tim brown not being in the hall is a joke they were the number 2 and number 3 receivers behind Rice when they retired in just about every major receiving category. Anyone who says Reed should be in before those two didn't watch a lot of football in the 90s

I agree. The HOF voting is flawed IMO. A lot of deserving guys get stuck waiting for long periods due to the voting restrictions and it seems voters don't like to elect multiple from the same position in the same year. I'd love to see Carter & Brown go in together, but that's not likely to happen.

BTW - rocketman, no need to apologize. Nothing wrong with a discussion about HOF candidates in a HOF election thread. ;) It's refreshing to be able to debate a topic without the nonsense of some of the other discussions (Tiki Barber anyone?).

exactly my thoughts.

The biggest flaw with the fact that is a guy like Parcells gets in he takes a spot from one of the 5 modern candidate players. That happened last year with Sabol taking what I believe to be Willie Roaf's spot. As a La Tech alum and lifelong Saints fan that really ticked me off. If Parcells gets in and Roaf does not I am going to be hot especially with Ogden and Larry Allen waiting in the wings for next years class.

Sadly the Football Hall of Fame voting is awful. There is a huge list of guys that should be in with no questionyet as someone else said guys like Sabol take a spot of an actual player. While Im not arguing that Sabol did a lot for the game does he really deserve a spot over a long list of orthy players. Why not have a seperate wing for contibutors to the game? Im really rooting hard for Carter and Brown since I grew up watching them play but sadly if either of them make it I think it will only be one and the other will have to wait.

my thoughts exactly for the contributors. Here is the deal. Brown and Carter are definitely getting in eventually just maybe not this year. They love to make certain players wait especially if they do not have rings. If Roaf, Carter, or Brown had a ring they would have been first ballot. Reed is a great player as well a notch just below Carter and Brown in my book, but he has waited much longer and he deserves to be in as well. 95% of the time the Football HOF eventually gets it right. It is by far the best HOF going. Baseball does not have its all time hits or homerun leaders and the Basketball HOF is a complete nightmare. There is a lot of poilitics involved. Rickey Jackson (who deserves to be in) was helped tremendously by the Saints Super Bowl run 2 years ago.

With that I will list my biggest snubs of all time in no particular order.

1. Johnny Robinson S KC Chiefs - Starting Safety on the team of the Decade of the 60s. Intercepted pass to clinch victory in Super Bowl against Minnesota.
2. Drew Pearson WR - Dallas Cowboys - Starting Wide Receiver on the team of the Decade of the 70s
3. Sam Mills LB New Orleans / Carolina - the captain of the dome patrol and then went on to have great years in Carolina as well
4. Cliff Harris - S - Dallas Cowboys - Starting Safety on Team of the Decade 70s
5. Ray Guy - P - Oakland Raiders - Best punter ever until Shane Lechler came around. Not getting in because he is a punter
6. Harvey Martin - DE - Dallas Cowboys - Co- Super Bowl MVP - go look at his sack numbers, he put up numbers that were incredible before it became an official stat. Dominant in one 14 game season collecting 23 sacks!
7. Lester Hayes - CB - Oakland Raiders - crazy good - second team cb on the all 80s team. Very underrated in my opinion.
8. Ken Anderson - QB - Cincinatti Bengals - one of the superstars of the 70s and 80s just a notch below Dan Fouts.
9. Jerry Kramer - G - Green Bay Packers - this one baffles me. Starting G on the all decade team of the 60s, won title after title in Green Bay - may be the victim of too many Packers in the HOF.
10. Jim Marshall - DE Minnesota Vikings - He was the leader of the Purple People Eaters and just as good as Page and Eller who are in. I think him returning a fumble the wrong way for a safety has kept him out.

What a joke the bus and Tim brown didn't even make the top ten.

rarely ever do they take 2 at one position, I knew Bettis was not going to make it in. Brown was 3rd in the pecking order at WR. Also no shot. More shocked that no receivers made it.

Official class is:

Jack Butler
Dermontti Dawson
Chris Doleman
Cortez Kennedy
Curtis Martin
Willie Roaf

I think the 2 lineman got in this year because they wanted to get them in before Allen and Ogden come up next year.

Wow, I have to say that I'm shocked no WR's made it. Chris Doleman was good, but Carter & Brown should have been in long ago. This is getting ridiculous.

Here's my lone autograph of the inductees (from a lot of TTM/IP I bought):

Chris Carter is the greatest WR I've seen play in my lifetime.

I'm as big a Dolphins fan as you can be......so there's little bias, since I tend to hate all other teams/players.
But I also give credit where credit is due and as a kid growing up and playing the position Carter was the best. I realize defining someone as the "best" is highly subjective, so I'm sure many would not agree with me.....so while that may be subjective, what is not subjective to me is that Carter is a HOF player.

The surprise to me is that Martin got in.......or that he got in right away.
He obviously has the numbers, but in my mind he's one of those guys that I figured may get in eventually. To me a first ballot guy is a guy that was clearly one of the best at his position when he played, and the absolute best for some stretch of time. I never thought of Martin in that way....He was a very good player over a long stretch of time. To me there was some argument with him, so it's why I'm surprised he got in right away and didn't meet a fate like Carter & Brown.

I have autographs from almost all of them -- Doleman surprised me.

My early picks for the class of 2013 are: Jonathan Ogden, Larry Allen, Michael Strahan, Aeneas Williams, Bill Parcells, Johnny Robinson, and Maxie Baughan.

Strong class, all of them are deserving but a few selections I question. I have no idea why the voters decided to leave Stanfel out and select Doleman over K.Greene. Stanfel's career was the definition of a HOF'er and Greene was a better player than Doleman.
