Who will emerge to take over Jeter's spot as next decade's "Fan Favorite".

There was Mickey, There was Griffey, There is Jeter... Who will be next to take over Jeter's spot. It takes a certain Character to take that title, and I don't think Pujols is the guy. He may be the best of the last decade, but not sure he would be considered "THEE FAN FAVORITE". With Jeter getting on in his ages, it won't be long before he retires...Last time I asked the question many thought it would be Pedroia, but he has silently taken a back seat for some time now...what say the FCCB now?

Braun i don't think has the Character, Cabrera is definetly putting up the numbers, but does he have what it takes to claim the fame of the decade's fan favorite? Maybe Longoria or? Don't just pick your favorite player, or someone from your favorite team, but who do you think can stand the test of time for production and charisma to take the role?

Right now I'd say Longoria.

But IF the Orioles can improve, Manny Machado sounds like a good canidate, if he can avoid an "A-Rod Jr."-type complex.

Lincecum seems to be pretty popular, and if the Giants can get any good free agent bats in the next few years they can be a dominating team with Lincecum and Posey as the headliners.

I would say Prince Fielder or Jason Heyward both seem to have a good personality and good numbers.

I personally disagree that Jeter is the leagues fan favorite.

I personally don't have any friends that like Jeter that aren't big Yankees fans. Griffey was beloved by 100,000's of NON-Mariner fans. I don't think Jeter is as beloved outside outside of NY as you are stating.

My pick - Hanley or Starlin Castro (total homer pick)

In my opinion, Bryce Harper has the best shot to become the next megastar.

I'm gunna go out and say that no current player will emerge as the next Jeter. No player has the casual fan following that Jeter has, and not to mention Jeter has had exposure to non baseball fans by appearing in non-sports media as well. Pujols/Longoria/Hamilton and similar caliber players are well-known among die-hard fans & people with baseball knowledge, but most of my friends who are casual fans have no clue who any of these guys are. Yet, they all know who Derek Jeter is.

Edit: I should point out that I mean that no player will be the next Jeter in terms of popularity, as the "Fan favorite". There will some guys that are more liked by fans than others, but none to the level of Jeter, and I doubt there will be a single player that can clearly take the title.

I think it will be Longoria unless the team is totally blown up and they fall back down the standings. Heyward seems to have a shot too.

Longoria could certainly get there. Not everyone knew who Derek Jeter was after three years in the bigs. He has been there 15 years, give it time.

Jeter isn't a fan favorite outside of Yankees fans. I've never met a single person who gives a rat's ass about Derek Jeter who wasn't a NY fan

Griffey was a true fan favorite. Most kids my age grew up idolizing him. None cared about the Mariners
