Pass on all Yanks since they are highly collected that drives prices up.
Braves: Tommy Hanson or Jair Jurrjens
Nats: Ryan Zimmerman may be too expensive. Look at Jordan Zimmermann or Michael Morse.

Forget Zimmermann. His die hard collectors spend as much as any other player collectors Ive seen, regularly paying over full BV for his decent stuff.

Manny Machado......

But seriously, you should be able to figure this out for yourself. Just take a look on ebay and see what stuff is going for or scope out a LCS.

I wish Dice-K would come around but I have a feeling I'm stuck with bunch of stuff of his that I should have sold a while ago.

Manny Machado, Hmmmm I like it! I just checked and hes too much though :(

His draft autos are high... but his 2011 Bowman autos are cheap and I'm sure platinum won't be that crazy. Unless you are set on buying 2010 draft, then yes, there are better buys.

Brian McCann, great hitting catcher whom IMO is on his way to the HOF.

A lot will depend on why you are choosing to start a collection.

If you are doing so to get chicks:

It has been documented in many prestigious journals of science and medicine that the increased levels of estrogen in women make them predisposed toward the "long ball." Considering this, and your budget you may want to consider such powers hitters as Cecil Fielder or John Kruk.

Hypothetically though, you may have other goals in mind. If you are looking to intimidate friends you may want to consider collecting cards of players who have been behind bars. Then tell people you've decided to start collecting cards of your relatives.

Of course if you are looking to collect cards of players who are exciting, should be around a long time, and are relatively affordable right now you may want to consider:

Andrew McCutchen
Jay Bruce
Justin Upton
Troy Tulowitzki
Jon Lester
Jered Weaver
Clayton Kershaw
or one of the other bright young stars out there today.

How about Drew Storen?? 5-2 2.76 Era 20 saves with 23 save opportunities. And he was drafted pretty high.

That's who I'd go with. And he has Twitter!

Justin Upton and Andrew McCutchen are two good ones. They both have future star written allover them and the Pirates should be a pretty decent team to watch in the upcoming years

I collect Daniel Descalso. I picked a player that I like who is not a superstar but has some potential. Even though he is a prospect I would collect Rendon for the nats just my opinion.

right but if you decide right now that you want to collect him you start from the jump instead of starting collecting in the 3rd quarter of the game. Yes basketball references were doin em. I decided to collect Pujols autographs in January of 02 I was 5. Now his stuff cost wayyyyy more than the 50 it cost the first time I got him. I own more than 12 of his autos and that's pretty impressive considering that's just the times that I've met him not to mention the uda and stuff like that.

I wanna start collecting another player, since Daisuke isnt too good...
It may be "jumping the gun" a bit, but now might be a good time to start collecting Yu Darvish. If he does come over next season however, his stuff might get too expensive.
