It is so expensive because a box of 1972 Topps from a reputable source (or any source for that matter) is impossible to find. It is actually more for the full box than to just buy packs. There are some cards from this series that have very low pop reports in high grade and some that would bring monsterous money if they were clean enough out of the pack for grading at PSA. Of course there is no guarantee on that.

It is true... That IS a potential hit. Well, not really because it isn't a high series card, but that could definitely happen. Ok. I get it... We will stick to the basics!

Awesome! Glad to see I'm off to a good start! Does anyone ever save them in their pack instead of opening them? Not saying that's what I'm going to do...just curious! Thanks again Bill! Can't wait for the package to arrive.

I would suggest you NOT open the rack with Clemens on top. It's a $30 rack pack sealed. You'd be better off selling it and putting the money towards 5 more rack packs in the second buy we are doing (this way you could work on making a set) OR you could put that towards almost half a box of 1982 Donruss to try and pull a Ripken (or more 1982 Racks or Cellos depending on how many Steve has left - I will know more on Monday).

It's a highly collectible rack pack. The Clemens is pretty much a $5 card once you take it out of there.

thejackaryman8 - I was hoping you'd get a Ripken. I know you wanted that one! Maybe the next round. Sorry you struck out with the Leaf Cert packs. Someone is going to make out well with them! You missed on two and afrobandit missed on two, so the hits are definitely still out there. Some other folks had to get their packages by now too. Thom RedSoxSoul - is just up the street from me!

Exactly. I am waiting to see what you hit in all the Certified Materials packs! Of course, someone has to land the Ripken RC too!
