So I've been looking over some scouting reports lately on the two guys mentioned above and realized that they are very similar. They are both young 17 and 18 and they're both listed as 6'3 and around 190lbs. with room to grow. They've also drawn comparisons to players like Alex Rodriguez, and have home run power.

So my question (with poll above), Who is a better prospect currently Miguel Sano or Manny Machado?

To add a little more, answer in the comments, who will have a better career?

I'll go with Manny. More well rounded, will stick at his position (unlike Sano), and a better bat.

Neither one has been playing long enough to decide imo, but like Russ, I'm biased toward Machado. I think he's more refined at this point.

Let's hear from the people that voted for Sano.

I did, I personally think that as Sano grows even more so will his power. Along with that, Sano is like 30 dollars cheaper per base chrome auto.

Yep I like Sano way more. He is further away, but has better chance to be power hitting superstar.

I really don't think a very compelling argument could be made for either player at this point as to who is undoubtedly "better". Machado has played all of 9 games in the minors while Sano isn't too far ahead at 61. Neither really have the stats to back up a argument for one being "better" than the other. Let them both play a full season then you might have a better feel for the question.....but hey, what's the fun in that

I voted for Sano. Who was the other choice? Tim Beckham? Matt Bush? BJ Upton? Name a SS to come out of High School since A Rod and have any impact at that position.

Great analysis but Sano will out grow SS

I thought Sano was basically already a 3B. I mean I could have sworn they just cloned Miguel Cabrera down there using some dirt and a milk carton.

Sano is playing 3B with Niko Goodrum in spring training with the rest of SS and GCL players.

He is a beast..........ball just explodes off his bat. Personally, I think he will be a 1B. Just a huge guy with a large frame.
