Kirby Puckett was amazing, as is Bert Blyleven. But of current players, Curtis Granderson and Torii Hunter take the cake by a longshot!

Robin Roberts. I had to pick him up at the airport for a show about 6 years ago. Droped him and his agent off at the hotel. He invited me to come in and watch a playoff game with them. Sat with them for 4 + hours just talking and watching baseball. He just seemed like a sweet Grandpa. LOL

On the other hand (I hate to talk ill on the deceased, but) Tug McGraw was a total A$$.

I will always remember Roberts as a true class act, he also signed 2 bats and a half dozen balls for me. Still have them all and will pass them on to the kids someday.

Funny seeing both Griffey and Vlad being brought right away as fan friendly. Two of the biggest jerks to fans in all of MLB.

I would agree with both Granderson and Hunter. Both are very good for the most part to fans.

Well, since Griffey has been brought through the mud here, I figured I would share a story. Last year, I was at a Reds vs. Braves game at Turner Field with my girlfriend. We were in right-center field and there was this little girl, maybe 8 or 9 years old sitting in the first row of the right field seats. She held up a sign everytime that Griffey came out to play right field that was really well designed that said "Griffey, You're My Hero!" Well, in the bottom of the 8th, Junior came up with a pair of batting gloves and a baseball and tossed them up to this little girl. I have never seen any player do that in a game, but I'm sure there are similar stories.

I happened to be at the Mariners vs. Rays games the past two nights and although Griffey didn't sign before the games, he sure was chatting up the fans when he was in the on-deck circle. So, I don't see the a-hole side that you guys are talking about.

Thanks for sharing bro, that was a cool recollection! Kinda humorous how some are bent on throwing out the negative instead of what was asked..(although these are just opinion's it is funny how a first impression added together with personal resentment for someone because they didn't cater to you, can equal that person being "the most unfriendly ***** in the league")! :D

No problem! I have always been a Griffey fan, but when he did that for that little girl, that just sealed the deal for me. My girlfriend looked at me and said that she can see why I'm such a big fan of his. I was just as happy that he did that for that little girl as I would've been if he did it for me...it was a genuine moment.

I really can't believe some of the names I've read in here. Griffey, Jeter, Teixeira, Vlad, LaPorta? I hope those were sarcastic suggestions. Seriously, you guys must have either paid to meet them or got extremely, extremely lucky in your experiences.

Look on page three... You'll change your mind about Laporta.

Why would that change my mind? He visits people in hospitals, so do many other players, it's charity work or he's doing it for a fan that reached out somehow to him. Either way that's an outlier and really doesn't mean much. Doesn't change my opinion at all, plus I read that story when it was first posted. Nice story.

definitely very humble but being so shy wouldn't mean friendly to everyone.

mama's boy, god respect, grew up poor and gives a lot, and likes video games.
Hard not to respect vladdy...which is why he was my only so-called player collection....not to mention the fact as he tied Gehrig as the only 2 to hit 300+ 25+hR for 11 seasons in a row....

MLB players don't get any nicer or more fan-friendly than Ben Zobrist. I mean the guy gives out his own signed cards to anyone he signs for if they want it.
