Warren Spahn!!!!! I was born in Milwaukee and grew up watching the Brew Crew with my Grandpa. He used to tell me stories about Brewers and old Milwaukee Braves greats, but Spahn was the one that always stood out. I remember when my Grandpa called him the "greatest southpaw to ever play the game." That was the first time I ever heard the word "southpaw." When he told me what it meant I felt like a baseball insider at just 7 or 8 years old. I'd later see a picture of Spahn whose peaceful smile and slightly crooked nose were reminiscent of my Grandpa's. To this day Spahn's image makes me feel like I'm sitting in my Grandpa's lap again, listening to him call Dale Sveum a Horse's Ass!

With all due respect.........I'd punch your grandpa in the nose!

Gotta love Spahnie. I've got a few odds and ends around here, newspaper clippings from his passing, an old SI with him on the cover, an old library book The Warren Spahn Story (50s?) and a sweet Spahn minor league throwback jersey somewhere. Used to collect him on the side but sold off years ago so I love hearing about a Spahn collector, even if its one with a slightly misguided grandfather

Edit- and oh, I collect Jeff Cirillo, Jeromy Burnitz, and Greg Vaughn (in addition to Sveum because of the Easter Sunday Miracle and being my first favorite player after discovering baseballl) because growing up, Yount was a little too old to identify with and those were the stars of the craptastic years. Cirillo was the Robin Yount of the day

Haha! Actually, he called EVERYONE a horse's ass whenever they struck out or made a bad play...I just used Sveum because he was one of the players I remembered from those 80's teams. I don't want to end up on anybody's hate list, though, so why don't we edit that to Rob Deer. hehe

Lets go with Bj Surhoff. He grounded out to 2nd in every at bat he ever had while wearing a Brewers uniform! I believe this is fact.

David Price. Was at Vanderbilt with me. Not card collecting crazy, but it is pretty neat to see a guy that was a freshman with me in a pretty small place doing all these things. Going from Branscomb quad to a three time all star in 5 years is pretty crazy.
