YOU KNOW
some of these guys prices are redic

for instance, puols aside, look at older BC and topps traded products

guys like miguel cabrera, david wright, alfonso soriano, adam dunn, grady sizemore, etc etc etc, they are all stars, would you not agree?
top 25 players in the league (dunn aside), but all in the top 100 probably

these guys cards get good prices, but nowhere near the prices these young guys who have done nothing get, so i dont see how these can go up

granted im taking about golds, etc, low print run, but i dont know, seeing a justin upton gold going for 500 scares me

also poseys going into the thousands
come on, that is stupid

Yamaico Navarro. Don't laugh, he could be the next Hanley.

Pitchers:
David Price- should be dominate in the majors and with only a few cards prices should sky rocket
Jarrod Parker- potential candidate for 2009-2010 #1 Pitching Prospect, and undervalued now considering that realistic celling

Batters:
Cameron Maybin- should make the team out of ST which will boost sales slightly, but assuming he gets hot and flashes some power cards could really spike
Jason Heyward - Im probably not the first, but I most definitely wont be the last to say the words "2009 BA Player of the Year" shoe-in for the #1 spot, and with his raw tools, and his ability he has shown to hone his skills he will be a no-brainer investment
Lars Anderon - Could he see boston this year? a long shot, but for a guy who has flashed some crazy power, in the boston market, theres no way chrome autos wont top 100 if he does anything in boston
Fernando Martinez - risky definitely but the NY Market mixed with his raw tools and young age, this guy could be a perma-figure on the BA Hot Sheet and Chrome Autos have no where to go but up

If you are looking percentage-wise, it will probably be some obscure prospect who becomes a decent prospect. In that case though, the returns dollars-wise will probably be lower, and serious profit is unlikely.

The next place to look are the guys who can really explode in the Majors. I've been surprised at how cheap Price's cards have been (BCDP and BS Auto.) I am biased as I've bought in pretty heavily but hey, I've put my money where my mouth is. Joba's RC Auto seems pretty reasonable if you expect big things.

The last place are those established stars in the bigs. The guys who everyone knows about, but few think to invest in. The guys who are more likely than any to start off the season with a homerun barrage, or batting .400 etc., the kind of things that create a frenzy that has people saying things like "Lance Berkman, he's too old to be a good investment" while prices are shooting up. Personally I like Pujols in this category as besides for his incredible play, he's cheaper than he's been in years.

Great post. Covers about anything and everything that will cause a spike in prices.

I personally think Hanleys cards, even the '06 (RC) cards are poised for explosion. If he starts this year off well, I think his talent will be undenyable to anyone. I can see his true RC's doubbling or trippling in value while his '06 (RC) cards could easily see $5-$10 worth of actual CV. Mind you, I have no vested interest here, just giving an opinion...

I'm hoping Haren and Kershaw. Haren is incredibly low right now, so the chance that he increases is very good. You cannot ignore he was 1st in K/BB, 3rd in WHIP, 2nd in Ks, 11th in ERA, and won 16 games. He is poised for a very big season in 2009, mark my words. Although technically his RCs are from 2003...

I'd say Justin Upton or Jay Bruce. In the end, scouts know A LOT more than us. And they have said a lot of good things about these two guys. Personally, I think Justin Upton is going to have a breakout year. He seems to need a little time to adjust when advancing. But if you look at his splits, he had some dominating periods last year at a very young age. Performing phenoms have the highest ceiling in my opinion, regardless of the sport.

CBills - His numbers are sneaky good, and he's still pretty young.
