He did'nt realize that the COA/cert card was important and threw it away with the rest of his base cards

This says it all, and it looks nothing like the rest I've seen.

2 and 2 = no good here...

black ink /89???

thought that was blue
It has been 20 years since the epic win that was 1989 Upper Deck was released. To celebrate UD has released a special buy back autograph 89 Griffey with a special inscription, “20 years.” These cards will be randomly inserted into 2009 Upper Deck Series One Baseball which releases in early February. To add heightened rarity with these signed cards, Junior signed the first 13 cards in black ink and the remaining 76 cards in blue ink.

Ahhh dont you love the old kid in the store stories? So lets get this correct kid opens this pack then runs down the block throws away the cards and the coa and then runs back to the store to sell the card. But by the time he gets back to the garbage the garbage man took the garbage....Thats the only story that would kind of make sense

Seems weird also look at the word years. On the blue one no letters are connected on the black they all are.

At first glance I would say real, but if you compare it to a legit copy, the word "YEARS" doesn't match up. The Y and the R are written differently. The Griffey part of the signature looks off. Your crazy if you wouldn't pay $5 just for the risk, but over 1K, nah.

No, I'm not crazy, you're crazy for noticing all the flaws and still wanting to waste $5 on it.

As Magic said, you never know till we see another black, and yes, I will pay you $5 for a Griffey UD RC even if you signed it yourself. Would you like to take me up on that?

Shouldn't these Griffey autos have those UD tamper-proof holograms on them?

Here is the scan of 1/89 from UD's press release. Completely different from the one at auction.
