I just dont understand why Michael Young for the Rangers doesn't get any respect. Yes, I know he gets voted into All Star Games, but he deserves it. The guy is the ultimate team player and one of the best hitters in the game. Not to mention he played phenomenal defense when he was a SS. Honestly, I dont see why if he stays healthy he couldn't reach 3,000 hits? A pretty common auto of his can be picked up for about a Washington and his rookies are cheap too. Heck I just picked up a nameplate patch /7 for 6 dlvd. Someone tell me why this guy doesn't get the respect he deserves? I believe he is hitting .335 this year...

First off, it's the Texas thing... look at Ian Kinsler. Second, like was already stated, he isn't flashy. He is a hit machine, but doesn't hit for a high average and doesn't hit many homeruns or drive in a large amount of runs.

Overrated. His home park helps him a ton, and even with that advantage, his OPS+ is only 4% higher than the league average. With that said, he is good in the field and he does hit for a good average.

200 hits 6 years in a row isn't really overrated, I can understand if he hit 30 HR's at home and 5 on the road or something, but all he does it hit singles and doubles which a park really doesn't effect.

Agreed, except for the part about his fielding. Young is absolutely atrocious in the field, at both SS and 3b. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?pl ... tion=2B/SS. He grades out as just horrible, and has been for years, costing his team a ton of runs. He actually is a guy that gets much more credit and accolades than he actually deserves.

Ah didn't realize that. My knowledge of fielding statistics is pretty small, thanks for the link!

His range at third is terrrrrrrrible, he can't go more than 10 inches either way, there's a reason why Andrus gets so many dribblers in the hole.

Ask Derek Jeter.

Jeter deserved each of his three gold gloves. Anyone that says he doesn't is in denial.

Remember, he is a Mets fan, they have Jose Reyes LOL.

Jeter makes plays that most people can't make...

And screws up a ton that most can make, that's not exactly gold glove material, o well Elvis Andurs is the 2nd best defensive SS in the game now anyways (behind Jack Wilson of course).

According to the "The Fielders Bible", is Jeter considered to be the 2nd worst fielding SS in the league :?:
Wilson #1, Andrus #2?
