I just noticed that the 2009 Bowman Chrome WBC cards are not labeled with "1st Bowman Chrome Card". Clearly the majority of these guys have never had a Bowman Chrome card issued.

Do YOU recognize these cards as their first BC card (ie Aumont, Darvish etc)?

Maybe Topps got smart finally so that 4 years from now, they don't issue a card of the same players and claim that one is the first bowman chrome card.

Topps just did that to add some additional drama and confusion to prospecting :)

Does the first bowman card label really matter? We already know their professional status, whether or not they had a card issued beforehand, etc. prior to spending our $ anyway.

So take the Yu Darvish card. Hypothetically speaking, let's say he somehow signed onto a MLB team next year (wouldn't happen of course) which would allow Topps to produce a Bowman Chrome card similar to Michael Ynoa. And on this hypothetical 2010 card, Topps placed the '1st Bowman Chrome card' logo in the corner.

Would you recognize that as his first and must have card or the WBC card?

Thanks for your opinions,
Allen

The Riverlands.
It is not on there probably because of international contracts and such. I wouldn't be suprised at all.

I think of them as "international AFLAC game" cards. Maybe not a solid apples to apples comparison, but I think its close.

Hypothetical Situation Again:

So you'd rather have a 2010 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor #/50 than a 2009 Bowman Chrome WBC Gold Refractor #/50?

Depends, but keep in mind, I don't prospect. I'm a team collector, so I'm most likely gonna pick up the one in his team jersey, so that would be the 2010, that would theoretically have 1st Chrome on it. I own Heyward Sterling auto and some chromes, but no AFLACs.
