Let's not forget posey has had 86 stolen bases against him! Molina has 36 against him ! You also need to realize posey hits in the three hole and Molina the six hole-good reason for the lack of rbi's.(molina just recentl moved the the five hole)
Let's also not forget that part of stolen bases is the pitchers ability to hold runners, if a runner gets a good jump on a pitcher then they'll steal the base, even against a catcher with the greatest cannon of all time. Posey has thrown out 30% of attempted steals, above the league average of 26%. Molina is a good defensive catcher, 46% and his pitchers help him out but Molina also has 5 passed balls, ball missed by a catcher that allows a runner to advance and Posey has 2. Plus, the Giants team era is 3.68 vs the Cardinals 3.74, the Giants have given up less hits, less runs and struck out more batters than have the Cardinals and that is with Lincecum having the worst season out of all eligible starting pitchers in the league. Heck, Barry Zito and Ryan Vogelsong each have 14 wins, talk about bringing up a pitchers abilities. As far as Molina batting 6th compared to 3rd, that fact is only effective in the RBI category, otherwise Molina has had more at bats to get more hits, to hit more HR, 2B, 3B and simply hasn't. No knocking Molina, I just think Posey has been the better player this season.
