I know some people may not care for Waxheaven (I enjoy reading it), but I noticed an interesting string of comments. All I could do was shake my head. I thought this stuff only went on here, but it seems to go on other places too.

Razor may be a great company, but when I see stuff like this from their company head, I struggle with it. I saw the same thing happen here: getting upset, threaten to stop talking, stop talking, come back and talk again. I have no problem with Brian as a person. I'm sure we would have a good time sitting at a ballgame, eating hotdogs, and talking prospects. I just don't get why the company is putting itself out there like this, risking bringing negativity to their brand.

Now, I was never one for taking sides in the whole Razor argument. If they do well, great. If not, I hate to hear it. But to see the junk that has gone on here at this board, only to see a private forum created, and then to see the same arguments happening elsewhere makes me question if Razor is handling public relations properly at all.

I say this just as an observer. I don't buy Razor wax because I don't really buy wax except for BDP. I haven't bought any singles yet, but plan to in the future so it's not about the product. I don't have a horse in this race. But after seeing what happened here and seeing it elsewhere makes me question what is going on with Razor.

I write all this, not to start a huge flame thread on Razor or attack Brian, but I guess because I get tired of the board getting a bad rap for Razor discussions because a few people go overboard. This junk is going on elsewhere and it's just as ridiculous there too.

I don't know the whole story of everything going on with Razor, accusations, etc., but I am just tired of simply reading Razor drama. I'm tired of reading about lawsuits being threatened, etc. Maybe it was for the best that Razor has its own forum. I don't know. I have noticed a reduction of Razor flame threads and everybody taking sides like it's a friggin' war, wanting to fight to the death over their views. That's a good thing in my opinion that a lot of that mess has stopped.

And before it gets asked, yes, if this was another company having the same drama follow them around on the sites I visit, I'd probably write about it too.

Anyway, I just had to get this out of my system. Take it for what it's worth. I probably didn't articulate my views perfectly, but I guess I will have to deal with it if someone wants to attack me for commenting on Razor, whether for or against my views. This is not an attack on Brian...I just don't get what Razor is accomplishing by getting into these situations.

Just exercising my freedom at FreedomCardboard.com.... :)

All I can say is, that I respect Brian's passion about his company and his defense of what is being said about Razor, but the old saying, "pick your battles" is even more true when YOU are the main point of contact for your company in the hobby. Writing legal threats on blogs and forums is not something that gives you a good reputation. Handling matters privately and professionally? That's how to play the game. He obviously didn't make a good impression here to some, and it looks like he did the same thing there. He's got passion, I'll give him that. He's just trying to spread himself to thin across too many insignificant fires.

Whoever runs that site lost all credibility right here

Also, I have a company head of threatening legal action for a comment that was left about his product. You know there are places on the Internet where our former president George W. Bush is called a liar, thief, and murderer and you expect to sue some random anonymous reader who left some crazy conspiracy theory?

That is completely apples to oranges. You can say almost anything about a public figure like a president, mayor, governor, church official, police officer, pope, etc and they no repercussion except in a few situations, none of which were listed in his quote. However, if you make a comment that can potentially lose customers and its on your website (which is self proclaimed to have a large viewership), there are repercussions and completely justified. Just my two cents.

I don't think razor would have a very strong case vs the poster. But how would you guys feel if someone point blank said that you were absolutely, positively a shill bidder on your items?

Depends on who's saying it, I guess, and what I felt was any kind of compelling evidence. If it was all heresay or just a pissed of collector who busted a bad case, then it's not worth the effort.

Brian just needs to stop reading blogs and forums! No seriously. It's what I told you in my PM. He's the one who could have FULL ownership of his own development and feedback team. It wouldn't remove him from seeing all the crap floating out there, but he's got a good company and he doesn't need to defend himself to anyone if there is nothing to be defensive about.

I think Brian started out just fine, but then he started taking to heart what a few criticizers had to say. Taking them on by simply stating that they were way off base, and explaining why, would have been the right choice. To threaten legal action, or get so angry as to demand private Razor forums ever time someone has a negative comment about your product or how you do business, in discussion forums no less, is just shooting yourself in the foot. All he had to do was explain the truth anytime someone said something false, that's it. He states that he backs up his products 100%, but I don't think that should be with threats. I heavily applauded Razor's customer relations when they first came on these forums, but it is a lot harder now that they ONLY listen to positive opinions/comments and threaten legal action against anything else.

Apple, Inc. tried to sue a blogger a few years ago and lost. So guess what, Razor? You may want to put an end to it right now.

Brian is quickly finding out that it is hard to distance himself from the critical analysis that comes with producing cards. When a product belongs to you it is hard to not take things personally. It is funny how he has spent a considerable amount of time being critical of those at other companies, but now that the shoe is on the other foot he has a hard time accepting it.

In all seriousness, this is why card companies hire PR managers. It would probably be in Brian's best interest to hire someone to be an insulating layer between him and his consumers.

Sorry I refuse to click on his site. I don't want him to be mislead that hundreds of thousands of people are visiting a day.
