I wonder if he'll get a job somewhere or avoid jail. Couple of my friends just met him at a club in Virginia Beach and said hell no when my friend asked him if he would play with TO in Buffalo.

He will play in 09 after serving 2-4 games IMO.(in most states he would be slapped on the wrist, NY's gun laws a bit stiffer) I say he will be in a Bears uniform by the end of the year

Assuming he's not in jail. The way he keeps rejecting deals thrown his way because he doesn't want any jailtime, they might go after him hard.

If he does play, he will go to the Buccaneers.

I hope he doesn't get jail time. I also don't want to see a huge comedown from the NFL on him. Yea it was a stupid thing, but you can't argue having a gun for protection in today's life, especially with how sports stars are constantly being mugged and robbed. Of course he broke the law, and has to serve whatever penalty is set up for that violation.

Yea I read that they offered him 3 months of jail time, but really it was 2 months in jail then 1,500+ hrs of community service, but he turned it down. I think he's going to go to jail, so I doubt he plays in 2009

Here's the article:
Plaxico 'Deathly Afraid' Of Jail Term
ProFootballTalk - 05/28 - 6:43 PM EST
Plaxico Burress is facing three to five years in jail, because he hasn't taken a deal to plead guilty for a lesser sentence.

“This is what I’ve been told and what I’ve heard,” Bob Papa said on the air. “They worked out something where they had it down to about a three-month jail term with actually only two months served and about 1,500 hours of community service. And I think his lawyers felt that they had a pretty good deal. He doesn’t want to go to jail at all. He shot down the deal. He does not want to go to jail at all. So now coming up in another couple of weeks we’re gonna find out what’s gonna happen. But my guess is that the city of New York is not gonna back off any kind of jail time.

“Evidently, he’s gonna have to go to Riker’s Island,” Papa added. “He’s deathly afraid of going. f he would have just taken the deal when it originally was offered it would all be over with by now. But supposedly the community service hours and the jail time are not appealing to him. He does not understand that he is not in any kind of position of leverage. He has no leverage. He — not his representatives — he thinks he has leverage.” [READ]
