Has anyone seen a printing plate from 2006 Upper Deck Artifacts Awesome Artifacts? Plates from Artifacts (and other sets) were released in 2006 Ultimate Collection, but I don't know if they were released from this particular subset.

That was the Jumbo GU set /45 right? If so, I had 2-3 of the 4 plates for that one of Clark.

Yup, looks like this. Do you have a scan of any of the plates?

LWMM, I've seen a Clark plate for that set on e-bay in the past. I used to own this one from the MLB apparel set.

Unfortunately I do not. I sold them before I got that year of Will Clark scanned in.

Not me. I had emailed him a few times about extra Clark cards, but that's been ages ago. Hope everything is all good.

Thanks for the responses! The reason I ask is because Beckett doesn't list them, yet for some reason I have them on my personal checklist; I'd just like to be sure they do exist, so I don't have to keep wondering. I asked the same question last year---at that point, theplasticman, you didn't have any. Can I just make sure that those are the ones you meant?

Guys,

Some of you have likely seen the Hunt Auctions listing of a 1989 Will Clark World Series jersey. The auction listing does not specifically state that Will wore the jersey during the series, but it strongly suggests that he did so. I was very interested in this item and did a little digging to see what I could learn.

Here's a link to the auction: http://huntauctions.com/phone/imageview ... lot_num=61

In my research, I came across another message board, on which someone said the auction pictures did not appear to match pictures taken during the World Series. The critical thing to look at is the placement of the World Series patch on Will's right sleeve. Note how far the patch (and Rawlings logo) is from the stripe on the sleeve.

Please forgive my large photos. I think it will help the discussion.

Edit - if the pictures of Will in the world series don't show up, you can see them here:

I am no jersey expert by any estimation. In fact, I don't own a single game-used item that wasn't chopped into a little square and glued to a baseball card. However, after seeing the pictures, I really had to question the item.

If you read the auction description, the item comes with a sticker from MEARS, which is a jersey authenticator. The item does NOT come with a letter from MEARS, and only has the sticker. I emailed MEARS to see what they could tell me about the item, and to see if the number on the sticker matched with their database. I also pointed MEARS to the photos I posted above. After a few emails, here is what they told me.

"The jersey was reviewed by us as a professional model jersey, matching the criteria for game use. But, we were not able to photo match the jersey. This means that we could not 100% attribute the jersey to Clark. Hope this information was helpful in aiding you with your purchase decision."

I am NOT going to say whether this jersey is an authentic game jersey or not. I will say that I am not intending to bid on this item, and I wanted to make sure that other Will Clark collectors are aware of the photos so they can make their own decision. (As a note, I have looked at photos of other players/field personnel to see where their patches were placed. From what I have seen, they appear to be identical to the pictures of Will which I posted.

Once again, I am NOT going to bid on this item unless I learn additional information. I am not writing this post in an attempt to limit the bidders in the auction. Instead, I want to make sure that any Will Clark collector is aware of the issues before making their own decision to bid.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Great research Drew, different placement, too bad Hunt doesn't have photos of the other tagging on the jersey.

Nice work Drew. I had my doubts on that one too. It was a big red flag for me when they didn't post any pictures of the tagging.

Plasticman, would you be kind enough to share some pictures of your '89 WS gamer? And the story on how you got it? All of us Clark collectors are envious :)

Still trying to figure out the best way to photograph all my GU stuff. When I do, I'll have everything posted online. :)

Buy a camera and click the button, upload and boom you're sharing pics....... I try to use a neutral background so that nothing reflects oddly and ruins the pictures. Like with this blanket or jersey behind the bottle.

 @ Ron. I have one... just not enough time and I have too much to photograph (about 20 bats, 10+ jerseys etc).

Got some of my extras listed at my site.

Any new pick ups around here? I bid on a bat a while back but just lost out.

Plasticman, we all anxiously anticipate your GU stuff pictures. How in the world did you amass so many bats and jerseys? No wonder the world is in short supply of Clark's GU stuff :D
