Edited to add:

for those that say "well theres still UD FB and UD Hockey" those two boards added together would have a hard time licking the Baseball Boards sweaty jock strap.

  I got baseball cards ;)
No we have other sports than just baseball  did I just say that? And vintage guys on here. As with time things change some for the better and some for the worse. I don't plan on going anywhere(sorry to some people) I've enjoyed this site immensly with lots of people that are very knowledgable about the hobby.

I honestly don't think this is a major shock to anyone in the hobby. For years we all have been put to the test, run through the gauntlet, and have been pushed to the breaking point. Upper Deck has really cut corners in recent years to ultimately let collectors down. While they have done some positive things for the hobby, they really haven't done enough to really capitalize on the almight collectors dollar.

I think that FCB will be fine. We started without Upper Deck and I'm sure we will press on without them if that is the ultimate outcome from all of this legal scrambling. I have supported Upper Deck throughout the years but with a double standard. I have always kept an open mind when talking about their products and I have become more and more critical in recent past as they haven't really pushed the envelope to really entice collectors and give them what they want. While not having a ready supply of UD product on hand will temporarily hurt the hobby, I hope that Upper Deck will refocus, strategize, and come up with an innovative game plan that will produce products that will once again bring collectors back to the forefront of what UD founded themselves on.

I wish Upper Deck all the best and I really hope that Topps and Panini will listen to what we have to say as collectors and not shovel a bunch of crap down our chutes. Perhaps the powers that be will realize that an exclusive license will not help the hobby and this will be reviewed after this season. We can only hope.

If FCB was able to survive the death of Razor, we'll survive this.

Just me, but I'm planning on attending the Upper Deck funeral in a red suit.

Surviving UD? No problem.

Surviving with out Bowman? Well, that's when I'd worry...

still plenty of older UD product to crack and collect out there.. I don't crack anything more than a blaster or two of new products just strictly for tradebait. Even with Topps monopoly they will not be getting much money from me at all..

I'm the same way. I only tend to break boxes/case of stuff from 2007 or later now as it is. I like when the full depth and breadth of a product has been digested by the hobby. Hell, I just popped a case of 2002 Leaf Certified and it was a BLAST.

Maybe I'm missing something but beyond Ultimate and to some extent Sweet Spot, what exactly did UD put out in 2009 that was so earth shattering that the hobby/site would collapse? It seems to me that Ultimate made everybody forget about the plethora of boredom that they put out this past year.

Those 2 right there are enough to me.

I don't think people have really grasped this yet. The only new products coming out for the remainder of 2010 will be from Topps.

They will be released whenever the hell Topps gets around to it.

At least 5 of them will be prospect/rookie based (which is great for a lot of FCBers, but sucks for most others)

There will most likely be only 2 or maybe 3 high-end products this year that contain retired/HOF players (and those will have sticker autos I'm sure)

Unless Topps GROSSLY overproduces everything, wax dealers/distributors will suffer bigtime.

Imho, it isn't going to take long for people to realize that this sucks a big one as far as the hobby and industry are concerned.
