Wondering if any of you know (or even what you think) paypal would do if you purchased a patch card off ebay and it was kicked back from beckett grading as unauthentic?

Maybe.

It would depend alot on how the auction was worded and described

I think you have 45 days from getting the item to open a claim, I may be wrong though not very certain on this one.

Yeah. Not worried about the window.

God knows... I've lost some disputes that I thought were obviously fraud on the seller's part and won some that I've had little evidence to back my case. Paypal seems to be inconsistent with their rulings.

Sorry, Beckett only grades the authenticity of the card, not the patch

For Donruss, at least, you can send cards in to have their swatches verified (although I am not sure how much its costs). The process is shown at their FAQ page: http://www.donruss.com/faq.cfm

Each company should really scan each version of their prime pieces before releasing them.

Bo,

I'm confused by this seller. He appears to sell almost purely auto'd memorabilia with a "COA", so his past auctions don't scream patch faker. At the same time, I don't see any damage to the patch window.

That said, like I told you earlier, it just looks too good to be true.

Haven't dealt with Beckett, but have with PSA...

I took a chance on a high quality looking Nolan Ryan RC that I had a good feeling was fake, had a psa grading coupon to use. Sure enough I could tell the card was fake as soon as I received it; flimsy card stock among other things. I assumed that I'd use my voucher to confirm the fake and win the claim I filed with paypal and have my $ in no time. Because PSA labeled the card "questionable authenticity" paypal would not decide the claim in my favor. However, I was able to win my claim. Paypal instructed me to get a written claim from an industry expert assessing the fraudulence of the card. I had my local shop owner take a look and type something up for me and sign it. Paypal was satisfied with letter and eventually returned my $ to my account. Couple days later I took my refunded cash and bought a few boxes at the shop.

I don't recall if Beckett labels them inauthentic(I believe you stated inauthentic) or questionable authenticity, could that verbiage make a difference in the way Paypal views the graders' opinions?

He purchased it at a dreaded card show, so who knows what kind of seller it comes from.
