When I was younger, there were a handful of basketball stars that I was drawn too and Reed was one of several that also included Artis Gilmour, George Gervin, Bob Lanier, Walt Frazier, Bob McAdoo, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Not that I didn't like Dr J, Jabbar West, Cousey and some of the other big names like Maravich, but they were big enough or old enough to not care as much about when I was gather cards and autographs.
Sad to see another legend gone.
Of course, I always check ebay to watch the Johhny come lately's scoop up these cards that often sold for half of what they do on the day prior to the date of death being reported or the lucky few that steal the cheap items that got the earliest word of the players recent death. Is is a coincidence that three of this same Willie Reed cards have sold today though???
