I think that a player getting traded can help a non-MLB licensed card if the non-MLB licenesed card predates the Team affiliated chrome by a full year. It wont help those that are from the same year as the chrome.

Its obviously not universal, but it doesnt have to be. We've definately heard from several people who dont want any part of a player's previous team related card. That then leads you to believe they'd be more likely to turn to the first card issued in the NEW team, or more interested in the FIRST autographed version of that player.

Example (not necesarily accurate numbers)

Jesus Montero 2008 Chrome Yankee Jersey = $75
Jesus Montero 2006 Just Minor League Jersey = $15

Traded to Seattle

Which card would be more likely to go up or down in desireability to a Seattle fan?

College uniforms are always a plus. That's one of the reasons why I like Elite.

The whole different uni thing kills it for me. Look at all $100 plus chrome rc autos current or hit that level in the past, and all players are on the same team pictured in the photo. Posey, Braun, Trout, Longo, Heyward, Kemp. I guess there isn't a true stud player who has charged teams that we could compare. At least that I can think of as I type this.

So do you guys think that if Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, Evan Longoria, David Price, or Jered Weaver got traded as prospects, they would all sell the same as they do now?

Surely agreeing to this is the same as saying the team the player is on doesn't matter. Assuming this were true, Bowman being MLB licensed or MiLB licensed shouldn't matter much either.

Great response. I guess only time will tell if Wil Myers could join this list of being a constant $100 plus chrome autograph while pictured on a different team. If he starts out hot out of spring training I'm guessing he will.
