This should help to quiet the folks that claim American League pitchers are far and above
National League pitchers. I would have liked to see Detroit win but oh well its not my team.

can't believe sutcliffe went there! said something along the lines of "Buster Posey's two rings in his very young career is very Jeter-esque!"

3HR games - very old school. I'd be more impressed for a four homer game since the 3HR WS game has been done a few times now. Can't believe the Tigers didn't show up for the series - who were those kids with "Cabrera" and "Fielder" on their uniform back?

Sad that the MLB season is over - will have to see the Mexicans have started their winter ball yet just to have some live baseball to watch over the winter.

So let me see if I understand; since I didn't enjoy watching one team play well and the other team basically not even show up to the ball park, I am not a fan of baseball? I don't follow your logic. If you enjoyed it then great. That doesn't make you anymore of a fan than myself. It was boring, plain and simple. The only excitement was Panda hitting a few HR in game 1. Even the celebration after game 4 was boring. Calling people young or bitter is ridiculous. I am neither of those things. Just because someone doesn't feel the same way about it as you did does not make them wrong. My team was done before the season even started but I still watched every game of the playoffs. I love baseball and I'm a baseball fan. But this world series was boring. Only slightly less boring than the Tigers vs Yankees series.

always someone who gets their feelings hurt.

If you didn't watch it or you did, and think it sucked and lacked excitement, then you really aren't much of a baseball fan. Making you really, just a fan of a team. Which is fine, just not a baseball fan. Normally, people who complain about a world series or playoffs, are either very young or bitter. Real baseball fans watched it and enjoyed it. Real baseball fans, watch and enjoy meaningless spring training games. Team fans support their team and when they are done, complain about the rest. It's been like this for a long time. If you live in a city that has 2 teams, you hear it all the time. Fans of the team not in the playoffs, tell the fans of the team in the playoffs, they aren't even going to watch. I assume, they think it's going to somehow hurt the fan of the team still playing. And then in the very next season, team A makes the playoffs and fans of team B, remembers it and says, I won't even watch, it's boring, it sucks. I see the same type of behavior in my kids.

I'm an angels fan. My team sucked and choked this year. But I love baseball. I watched every playoff game I could and enjoyed them all. Especially seeing the big dogs get knocked off and watching a surprise team win it all. The best teams don't always win. Many times it's the hotter team or team with a little magic. This was a great baseball season. Miggy, hamiltons hot streak, kemp to start the season, jeter showing he could still hit, no hitters, trout, harper, machado, frazier and many other rookies all showing the future is bright. The A's were a great story, as were the reds and nats. For all but the yankee fans, it was fun to see the yankees not win another, which isn't a slam on the yanks, more a sign of respect to them. The red sox mess was both fun and sad to watch.

Can't wait til march 2013.

A REAL exciting World Series would have went 7 games.

Let me first apologize for not have the same opinion as others here. What was I thinking? You guys are right, this years World Series was amazing! Every pitch had me on the edge of my seat. After every swing I had to catch my breath... none of this happened.

I absolutely love this website. If you have a difference of opinion with someone then they call you out with, your feelings are hurt, or you are bitter, or you are a child. Really? Offering my opinion does not make me any of those things. I choose not to be a sheep.

I think maybe everyone is still living off of last year's World Series - easily the best one since 1991. This years WS was like going to McDonald's for a burger after you just ate a $50 filet mignon plate at a restaurant.

I enjoyed the series because I love watching baseball but agree that the series was pretty lacking overall. I honestly felt that it looked like Cabrera just gave up at the end last night.

Seriously? What the hell is a "real" baseball fan anyway? Is that like a "true" collector?

Get off your high horse pal. Baseball is a game, nothing more and nothing less. I've loved baseball since as far back as I can remember, the game always came before the team, which is the Red Sox. If not watching any of this years series makes me less of a fan, I'd love to hear your reasoning as to why. Hell, I didn't even watch any playoff games in '04 or '07 when the Sox won. Guess that makes me less of a fan?

-The series went the minimum of four games. There's no suspense when one team is that far ahead in a series.

-One team didn't seem to have a chance in the first three games, the only exciting inning I can think of was in game 3 when Detroit had the bases loaded and a chance to make something happen, and Vogelsong did a good job to strikeout Berry and get a popout from the best hitter in baseball Cabrera.

-Good pitching overall from both teams other than Verlander.

-Sandovals homers were cool to see but that game was a blowout

-Game 4 had some nice ups and downs, but when one team is up 3-0 in the series, even an extra inning game doesn't carry much excitement.

Not sure what WAS exciting about the series. The Giants came to play and earned it, but the Tigers basically laid an egg when many people had them favored. I don't find that exciting, kind of like I thought the Yankees laid an egg in the ALCS, which I also didn't find to be very exciting. As a fan of baseball, I'd much rather see two teams both playing their best baseball and taking it to 6 or 7 games.

I don't even own a horse, let alone a high one. All I am saying is, if you love baseball and there is not something else more important going on in your life or family, then watching the world series is a no-brainer. I don't like the yanks or sox. I still watch their playoff games, as do many others. Was the yankee sweep of the padres a "great", world series, full of excitement, with a can't leave to even take a crap, game 4?? Not even close. But was is baseball? Was it MLB history?? Then a fan of baseball, should want to see it. I didn't attack anyone's level of being a fan. I was pointing out that there is a difference between being a fan of baseball and being an angels fan. My wife is an angels fan. Does she love baseball? Not really, but she loves to go and cheer for the angels. She likes to go to playoff games and hopes they win. But, does she come home in the middle of may and look and hope for any game to be on tv? No, but a fan of baseball does. A fan of the angels, may not. To me, IMO, there is a difference between being a great fan of a specific team and a huge baseball fan. One loves the game, the other loves the team. I know many fans, that can quote their teams roster from 20 years ago, but can't name the top 2-3 pitchers for most other teams right now. That doesn't mean, they aren't a great fan, as you took it. A person that loves baseball would watch a meaningless angels/yankees game tomorrow, if the mlb added one in.

No need to take what I said to serious. It's my opinion. I've kind of become more of a team fan of the nba. I grew up playing, loving, and watching basketball. I used to come home and look for games to be on, now I don't. I'm a huge fan of the lakers and a few players, for example durant. But I no longer follow every team. My interests have changed. I have kids now and less time. Years ago, I was a huge basketball fan and followed anything basketball. Now, I follow the lakers, listen to laker radio, and watch a few other games, if nothing else is going on. I watch a few playoffs games, if a player I like is involved and will try to watch most of the finals, unless there is big surf that week. IMO, in regards to basketball, I'm more a team fan, than I am a basketball/nba fan at this point.

I hope this helps explain my position. No harm meant, wasn't attacking any individual persons fandom.

This isn't aimed at answering your question, but at points others have made. It's true this wasn't an all time, thrilling, top drama world series. But, it was baseball, MLB history being made. Miggy, fielder, verlander, cain, lince, posey. The added story of one of the teams coming off a sweep of the mlb's most historic team, only to be swept by a team, none of us thought would even be here in may when the dodgers were going nuts. The story of, can a team with very good to great starting pitching, beating a superior team. The little guy finding a way to beat the big guy. There were plenty of stories and drama to be found for a baseball fan. The pandas 3 hrs and romo being lights out. Bum and vogel finding their stuff after, losing me the finals, in my fantasy league. Affeldt K'ing MIGGY, FIELDER, Young in the 8th. Zito???? Who the hell saw zito coming????? Sf fans after this may say he was worth the money they paid him. They wanted him dead 3 years ago. There was good baseball and good drama, with plenty of surprise, even for a non giants fan.

I hope all is well now. And most importantly, don't hold my opinions against me when bidding/offering/buying my cards or accepting/rejecting my offers:-). If that's the case, let me know and I will rethink things.

I'm ready for winter meetings rumors.

Good. I was worried about it. I'll work on me. You may want to work on better humor and finding some new material.

I read the boards all the time and know you are a good member here. You add to the boards. This isn't a personal attack on you.

But, your response and attempt to insult someone or embarrass them, is why many good people, leave this board and why TY has to come up with a new topic every few hours to keep anyone coming back.

I was just busting your balls. There was no ill-intent. Don't ever take me seriously.

And I've used that joke twice and it's still funny!!

I'm honored that 1.5% of your posts were a result of me though!

(((((And I've used that joke twice and it's still funny!! ))))
It's moderately funny, but losing steam.

((((I'm honored that 1.5% of your posts were a result of me though!)))
Not much I can say here, except to acknowledge a nice move in the new material and improving the humor dept.

See, the board is a better place when we take the time to work on ourselves.

With this response, the 1.5% changes, so keep an eye on it. If it goes above 20%, I think that would throw me under the troll or stalker definition and then things get ugly.
And I don't have time for that right now.

Have a good one.

I understand why most people thought this world series was boring. I would have liked it to go to 6 or 7 games myself. However, as a Giants fan, I do like that there wasn't a ton of torture and stress, since they put us through that already in the NLDS and the NLCS. The long wait definitely hurt the Tigers, and the Giants' pitchers were amazing. That said, I can't wait until pitchers and catchers report next year!
