Just gotta say that I love this topic! I'm taking notes - junk wax boxes like these are exactly what I collect and display! My 'closet card shop' currently has 86 Topps Tattoos, 89 Fleer, 92 Donruss, 89 Topps, and 88 and 89 Topps Yearbook Stickers in stock! More arriving soon...

I hate Triple Threads because of the way it looks, the dumb ass die cut swatch windows, the foilboard, the sticker autos built into the design, and because of the configuration. I hate Topps Sterling for most of the same reasons and more. Yet, im not sure if either eclipse the stupidity of Moments and Milestones. Its a close race for me.

There's probably some consensus that could be reached about the specific attributes that the worst sets have. Would make for a good poll.

Aside from folks hating on Razor in general, I don't understand how Letterman gets thrown under the bus. I love the product and think its one of the best designed letter patch products that was made. Not to mention that it overflows with prospects who have little else due to the razor exclusives. I thought their signature series product was awful, but I love the look and depth of the letterman product

I opened two cases and don't hate this product

but......

Color scheme was stupid
and for every good exclusive player there were a dozen scrubs

Ok, Im calling you out on player selection. Below you will find a list, please tell if any of the below players are scrubs:

Brian matusz
Pedro Alvarez
Matt Wieters
Yonder Alonso
Casey Kelly
Tim Beckham
Justin Smoak
Ike Davis
Gordon beckham
Buster Posey
Mike Stanton
Ryan Westmoreland
Pete Rose
Carlos Santana
Now, That is 14 guys who are absolute stud prospects.

IF you are a prospector, you should be well aware that the rest of the players are not "scrubs". Some of the notable players in the next tier include: Eric Hosmer, Yonder Alonso (should be in top tier probably), Brett Wallace, Aaron Hicks, Aaron Crow, Tanner Scheppers, Jordan Lyles, Dexter Carter, and more.

Its ok not to like the color scheme (heck, I am not a fan myself- there just isnt any other way to do it cost effective). You cannot knock actual patch quality as it is far superior to Major brand patches.
And, to say that only 7 players are good (12 scrubs to one star as you said) is silly. If you actually looked at the full checklist, you would see 35 guys who will probably be nice major league players (without about 10 potentially being STARS!)

Its ok to argue why a product is not good to you, however I always find that sound reasoning with a little research is much more persuasive.

I loved Lettermen, great autograph selection and I loved the already encased cards. However it was hard to turn around and flip them. If you were extremely lucky you got half of your money back. Most people just don't want to buy them.

2007 & 2008 SPA Letters are nicer. Sorry Brian, jmho.

Makes Smith looks like he plays for the Reds or Rangers

First, I dont think the reds wear that style of letter.
Second, look at red/white/blue /20 and you will see a favorable comparison.

I dont disagree "to date". I have been in this business for 25 years, there are a lot of things that are valuable now that you couldnt "flip" before.
If you look at better players as they make it (or get close), they bring nice $ on ebay. Try to buy stantons cheap there right now. BG

to me worst of all time not only has to suck really hard, but it has to have not only no value, interest, but also no audience..

people hate on UDX 08 all the time, but it had an audience and landed- kids. the cheap price, die cuts, shiney 90s parallels, and still a chance to get a nice auto (although small) made it fit.

I agree that I hate those lettermans by razor, but I guess it has a small audience that actually digs it. it does have a major cheapness to it though..

95 Fleer. There were 6 different card designs in the base set that were all over the place.

Such a hard one because theres been so much crap made over the last 30 years.

1991 Fleer has the worst design but there are variations which can bring in a little coin and a few whatever inserts to add to the "fun".

1990 Donruss has quality rookies and errors and 1991 Donruss has Elites while 1991 Score has autos.

Then we come to 1988 Score. But that set again has errors and has Baseball Card history on its side with some quality rookies thrown in.

Many other 1990's sets feature nice, shiny cards and inserts (possible autos and GU too) which adds some jazz to the products and nearly all 1980's products feature atleast ONE good rookie card.

But when it comes down to it, the clear winner for the worst set of all time is 1986 Topps due to its totally awful rookie selection (They left out the biggest rookie heading into that season, Canseco, when the other companies included him), bad design and lack of any interesting cards with no vairations to chase.
