I love how people see Heyward and start thinking that he is the norm. Do people realize just how rare the prices Heyward is getting for his cards is? A gold ref. auto for $1300... that's more than Hanley Ramirez Gold Ref. Auto has ever gotten. Do people realize that then only players whose gold ref.'s have gone for more than that (in 8 years of gold ref. auto's) belonged to David Wright, Tim Lincecum, Ryan Braun and Joe Mauer and Delmon Young after he was the #1 prospect in baseball 2 years running and one guy was buying them all. The prices are historically high and generally only come after years of being a star in the Bigs. The only players close to this type of situation ever were Delmon and Gordon, and that was when the market was in way better shape than now.
Of course the reason I love it is because as long as people see perceived value, they'll keep bumping up prices. Of course that only only last so long before it all collapses...
