Fairly wide and valid speculation that DLP reprinted cards and then called them recollection collection instead of actually buying cards back on the secondary market. If they had truly been bought back, where were the serial numbers from their initial release? (Remembering back to 2002 Donruss The Rookies and the Elite Recollection Autos)

Glad to know I'm not crazy! I've wondered this myself, why these didn't have the original serial #'ing on them. I have a 2003 Elite Recollection Jeremy Affeldt 2001 Elite, that should be #'ed /1000 on front, but only has the /75 for the buyback serial # on back. Never came up with a reasonable answer in my head, but these being reprints makes sense. Wonder if it was only the #'ed cards, or if DLP reprinted all of the Recollections?

I screamed this to the hills in 2002, as I was heavily invested in 2001 Elite Marlon Byrds. Those cards were allegedly printed and serially #ed to 1000, but due to the fact that they were redemption only, only about 300-500 of each rookie made it to market. Donruss allegedly destroyed the remainders, but certainly reprinted THOSE recollection cards -- or had a bunch of unserially #ed cards in inventory.

However, to consider that Donruss is reprinting 1984 or 1986 cards is ridiculous.
