Not even Henry Blanco?

Those statistics are made up, because a catcher has never stolen a base.

Without any surrounding context about the player, it's imposible to tell.

Fisk?

That's the delemina that we face. Should players be HOF worthy based solely on numbers or the person as a whole?

If I said the name, it would be shot down quicker than Jamie Moyer's hopes of making it

If Roger Bresnahan is in, I don't see why that guy wouldn't be considered if it were from that era.

That is a very slippery slope. If you bring "era" into the discussion then you'll have to be somewhat lax on pitchers stats from the "steroid" era.

thats who I was thinking.. and no.

offensive numbers are not that good, never was a defensive whiz, and a few years ago singlehandidly cost the A's a playoff spot by leading the league in GIDPs and being an offensive albatross.

theres some good catchers that have HOF chances, lets pass on this one.

oh i whole-heartedly agree. i was in a debate today with someone at a shop about this. he swears up and down kendall will get in alone on the fact his BA is high for being a catcher his entire career.

Did you tell him that the Hall of Fame is not made for mediocrity?

Break those stats down over 17-20 years and they are average at best.

No Way!

he's a big Pirates fan it as a huge letdown when they traded Kendall to Oakland. I guess in his defense (knowing he's extremely biased) Kendall's first half of his career can be deceiving. If it was mirrored, I don't think this would be a discussion. Alas it wasn't.

Very interesting. How about this guy who played 1771 games at catcher and about a season at 1B, and was in EIGHT all-star games:
8680 AB
2472 H
1074 R
483 2B
248 HR
1389 RBI
855 BB
.285 AVG

I originally thought you were talking about THIS guy instead. Any ideas on who this is? Hint: He's not currently playing and he's not in the HOF. He was only on the ballot for one year, which kind of amazes me.

Ted Simmons? Torre actually had very similar numbers to him except about 200 less RBI's.
