Would you rather have the 1/1 parallel (if not altered much) of the rookie numbered to the player's jersey number? Both are 1/1's in a sense, and the jersey number has a certain appeal.

For example, let's take an SPX card or something where the 1/1 is not such a dramatic difference in format as a superfractor.

Hypothetically:

Reggie Jackson 1/1
Reggie Jackson 44/99

The jersey number has no meaning for me, so the first option by a mile.

Likewise. I wouldn't pay a premium for any of them either.A 1/1 is a 1/1 any way you slice it and dice it.Take Bagwell for instance. You have a 1/1 and a 5/99.There are still 98 other cards out there of the second one and while the 5/99 may be the only 5/99 there is of that particular card...then by that same math you could say the other 98 are all 1/1's in their own right?

While some of the responses say they would pay no premium for the Jersey #, there are a lot of people that will pay a premium. It's really hard to give an opinion about a 1/1 and a Jersey # out of 99. Hands down I would take the 1/1, but being able to get a serial numbered jersey # would be more appealing to me than a Serial #'d care out of /10, /25 or even /50.

1/1, as I have none of either player I collect (Sosa, Wright).

That said, I do like picking up Sosa parallels /21.

Jersey numbered is coincidental and nothing more. 1/1 is quite intentional.

I would choose a true 1/1 over a jersey number of whatever. I doubt many people would choose not to have the 1/1, unless it is a printing plate.

Premiums are paid for first, last, and jersey number but i certainly don't bid any higher than i normally would. Obviously I would take the 1/1

And if you collect Ozzie Smith, and you get a card numbered to his jersey, I think you would take it..

Since it would be a 1/1 as well..

how about another question...would you pay more for a card that had the 1/1 written on the front rather
than written on the back? I know some cards, like wood 1/1's and super fractors are so well know that
it doesn't matter, but what about other cards where it is harder to see they are anything special. Isn't
it much better from a display point to see the 1/1 on the front of the card?

and what about sticker 1/1's versus on card 1/1's?

Jersey numbers change...yet a 1/1 will always be a 1/1 no matter how many 1/1s there are.

I really don't see how anyone would pick the jersey number over a 1/1.

I think this is probably the easiest poll that I have ever answered.

With the example given so is 45/99, 46/99, 47/99 etc....

If it isn't stamped 1/1 it isn't a one of one.

first, last and jersey number are all just a coincidence if I happen to land one.. I do have a 425/425 GU'ed in my collection but didn't pay more than going rate for it. sometimes I even hit on significant numbers to other areas of interest in my life.. Im big into Mustangs and cars in general and sometimes I happen across a numbered card that relates to that hobby as well.. like a buyback auto #409/502.. so I called it my fine 409. and yes I would surely take a non printing plate 1/1 over just about anything right now. since I don't have one in my collection.

A card serial numbered to a jersey number is NOT a true 1/1 in my opinion. It's special only to the person who thinks it's special. A 1/1 serial numbered card is special in and of itself (unless its in DK or M&M where they are dime a dozen  )
