I have someone asking I would be willing to ship a card to Taiwan. I've bought from there but never sold. I imagine one reason people are hesitant to send there is due to tracking, am I correct?

I need to hear the pros/cons of this before I decide. I've just not dealt with it and can use the help from the board. Thanks!

Everything over $100 I'd recommend use international priority which cost around $11. Other than that it really depends on the person's feedback. However, none of the Taiwan bidders have a confirmed address for some reason.

I live in France and can't get my address confirmed either. I've been on Ebay for several years and had my Paypal account since the beginning. I just can't get the darn address confirmed. I'm a verified member but not confirmed. Must be an international thing.

For the OP, indeed, high feedback is helpful and International Priority as well.

I know I've said this before, but why does eBay/PayPal let foreign users buy items from the US if you as a seller have absolutely ZERO guarantees.

You could ship the card, they can reverse the PayPal, and send you pic of them holding your card with a sign that says "Thanks for the card, sucker!", and you have no recourse whatsoever.

I believe only North American ebayers get confirmed addressess but countries outside of the USA and Canada are not confirmed. I have sold about 5 times to Taiwan bidders and each time I worry if I will get screwed and each time it works out fine. But there is always that chance so like the others have said, if good feedback you should be OK.

If they have good feedback I don't hesitate to accept Taiwanese bids.

Their feedback is 250. Not too high, but not too low either. My feedback is about the same. They have been a member since Nov 2006 and have 100% rating.

What is the benefit of international priority? Does it provide tracking or does it just send it faster? Just not familiar with it since the only thing I ever sent internationally was to Canada.

International priority will provide the option for delivery confirmation if using Paypal, I don't believe Paypal offers international first class mail. Or you have to drive to the post office, I believe they have another way to add DC if needed, which will cost about the same if you use Paypal to print the international priority label. Hope I made this sounds clear.

For Paypal tracking purposes - the only two ways you can ship it is Global Express Mail and Registered Mail. International priority has no tracking.

So you can track globally then? Never knew that. I imagine it costs quite a bit more to do so then right?

I just shipped two packages to Taiwan and Japan through international priority and it provided delivery confirmation, which cost me the same to go to the post office and pay 14 for a registered mail. Plus it got there in 4 days.

The question is - are you using the flat rate envelopes? Those are much cheaper, but per that link you provided -

Note: Tracking is not available for Priority Mail International Flat-Rate Envelopes.

Depending on what you are sending over there.

I shipped an Ichiro autographed item to Japan via Global Express Priority with insurance for $107..

The buyer paid the S&H fee and he wanted the tracking..

It got to him in about 4 days.. Global Express thru the USPS is shipped via FedEx..

I have shipped several cards to Taiwan as well..

Good Luck,

I will say this for the 1,999,995,634,342,004th time.....it doesn't matter how you ship the card to Taiwan, you have ZERO protection as a seller with paypal. End of story....

As for the feedback argument, it is worthless since sellers are unable to leave negative feedback on eBay!

The only protection you will have is with the USPS because if you ship Global Express Mail - you are automatically insured for up to $100, and you can buy more insurance if necessary. You can also buy insurance up to I believe only $50 through registered mail.

Paypal's seller protection policy per their own website claims that seller protection is only given internationally with Global Express. Every time I have shipped internationally and its something valuable, I make the buyers purchase this or do not allow them to win the auction. Global Express is pretty expensive, usually close to $25..

What good does this do you? If the USPS confirms that the item was delivered, and the buyer reverses the PayPal, USPS is not going to reimburse you for an item that they consider delivered. USPS ins. only covers you if the item is lost or damaged, they don't care about PayPal.
