Holy goodness! That's be so fun to rip! I was just starting to get into collecting in '93 and had no money but for a few lonesome packs, how I'd love to have even just one box!

Correct me if I'm wrong but, even if these were not tampered with, all you are getting is 17 packs of base cards and 1 pack with a refractor (so the odds say).

Now I know the refractors from 1993 Finest are THE refractors but is $200 a box (as George suggested in the box break thread) really worth it?

Is the lure of a possible PSA 10 what makes it go that high?

winner of that is gonna be quite upset with his ROI.
serious boring rip, 17 packs of crap and one ref,
that might be good, or might not.

Agree; odds of hitting enough money refactros to break even in quite small. As the auction stands now all boxes would need to contain stars or SP commons to break even.

Since the refractor pack looks different from the non-refractor pack I am personally concerned with these boxes being resealed. If these were sealed cases I would say bid $250/box but out of the boxes it would be far less and hope you can sell base sets.

Didn't these sometimes have hot boxes that contained all refractors or at least alot more than just the 1 per box norm? I somewhat remembering the shop I was working at in 1993 having some hot boxes, but my memory could be cloudy.

I must have opened 15-20 full cases and numerous boxes; I have never seen a "1993 Finest hot box". I have seen boxes with 2 refractors and to this day believe the pack odds are 1:17.

The refractors packs were printed and packed aside from the regular packs; thus there is a printing variation on the pack. I will leave it at that.

Also there is a hallmark defect, if you will, on the box wrapper. The Topps name was not printed on these and this anomaly is found on most boxes. My comments can be read in the boxbreak thread.

If these are in fact new boxes, another 40 or so new refractors in circulation may have a noticeable affect on the overall '93 ref market.

Forty more empty boxes could be good. At least some player collectors covet the boxes themselves with the cardfronts glued onto them. I know I always wanted a Frank Thomas one.

If the boxes are clean 40 refractors will have no effect on the market. Now if I start dumping sets that will be a different story.

You can get a case of 98 Donruss for that,( if you find one ) that is what i paid a few months ago. 1 refractor per box is not a sure thing. I know people who got ZERO and some got 2. A very bad buy if you ask me.
Like the songs goes
" Cant touch this "
