Its graded for one and also I have never even seen or heard of that set so it might play in somewhere in the equation.Maybe a war between a registry collector and a Griffey collector or just a random person who saw it.

I've never seen that card before!

Same here and I would guess that is the reason right there. 3 people in a row, never seen it before. Cool card btw.

ditto

I've been an avid collector since my child hood, managed a baseball card shop for 5.5 years, and have clearly remained in the hobby and I have NEVER seen that card before.

That is the coolest avatar that I've ever seen!

It was easy to make the animated gif out of 25 different cards. The hard part was finding all of them to line up in a swinging motion. Here is a Griffey I created:

ive never seen it either. add to that, back in 2006/7 i was "looking" at all of his 1989 PSA9 stuff to put this together:

i also have some of his other "oddball" mainstream issues from '89, the Score Rookies, Classic, etc, but never saw one of those that you listed, listed.

I just noticed that the winner of the 38 sets has the same amount of FB as the one selling them with an opening bid of $10 each.
That's a nice profit if he sells them at that price 38X10=$380 for an $18 investment.

I'm not a Griffey guy, but I've seen my fair share of cardboard over the years - first time I've ever seen that particular issue. I think it's pretty safe to say that most of the collecting world hasn't either. How about magicpapa - have you seen or heard about this card?

Agreed; at one point, I made it my goal to get all of Griffey's 1989 rookies. This one never made my list.

I've seen it before, but I'm a Griffey guy. Looks like 3 people wanted to pay at least $45 for it, maybe registry guys is my only guess. What's the pop report on it?

As others have noted...I too tried to get every single issue that Griffey had in 1989.Even any oddball stuff. When I got back into the hobby back in the winter of 2006 I was very surprised his rookies were so cheap.I did many searches on anything I could find.It may not be a rare card but its certainly not that common.

I've never seen the Griffey Jr card but I have several of the Will Clark card in that set, maybe 20+ copies.

Another person who has never seen or heard of this card before and i was heavily into the card market at that time, going to shows and shops all the time, interesting! On another note your Pujols avatar is very cool 8-) , love it when it hits the 2001 rookies and stars RC 8-)
