I hope the Dodgers write their names in steroid-tainted, meth-laced urine all over the field. Don't want other teams celebrating on your field? Here's a thought: WIN THE GAME INSTEAD OF ACTING LIKE XXXXXES!!

Not sure what the fuss is about...it was Stephen Fife "starting" and a slew of ineffective relievers. The bases were left loaded what 3 times by Arizona and LA still kept it close? Apart from Goldy and some pitching there's not much to cheer about in AZ this season.

Rico, I think after the initial rant, we are just keeping it calm... LOL I think the the Dodgers had chances last night and didn't at all capitalize. It is their own fault they didn't celebrate last night.

The D-backs managing to punt the Dodger clinch celebration over to SD might work out better for the Padres org and Dodger fans in general. The only time people actually go to Padre games is when the Giants or Dodgers are in town.

The Dodgers can still clinch it tonight with a win. The magic # is 2. A win and it is clinched in AZ.

Baseball's funny like that:

Dodgers win the West, though they're 1 game under .500 in head-to-head matchups vs other NL West teams. They've got 9 more games vs NL West teams, so they have time to remedy that anomaly.

Dodgers celebrate NL West crown with a swim

Classless? Fair play after being told not to celebrate on the field? A big middle finger for the bad blood earlier in the year?

I kinda wish they hadn't done this. I guess I'm enough of a traditionalist that I believe in decorum, and I think there are enough guys in the clubhouse that have "been there before" that should have discouraged the swim. Winning the division is all fine and good, but until they prove they can go all the way I think they should maintain some professionalism and stay focused on the task at hand.

However, a small part of me revels in the fact that this will gall the rabid AZ fanbase. I can't say I'm much of a fan of their organization.

edit: here's the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=p-Dbye49Myc

I just watched it for the first time, and I think I'm feeling a little classless, too. I couldn't help but smile a little.

EDIT: Posted the same time as TNP.

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks were upset after roughly half of the players on the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated clinching the NL West title on Thursday by jumping into the pool at Chase Field.

Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall said in a statement to the Arizona Republic, "I could call it disrespectful and classless, but they don't have a beautiful pool at their old park and must have really wanted to see what one was like."

The Diamondbacks had asked the Dodgers to keep their players from returning to the field once the division-clinching celebration began.

After the Dodgers' 7-6 win, the team high-fived and gathered briefly at second base before it filed into the clubhouse, where champagne and beer flew.

A few minutes later, players began running toward the pool beyond the right-center field wall and scaling it.

The Dodgers misunderstood the intent of the Diamondbacks' request, according to team president Stan Kasten. He thought they were asking Dodgers players not celebrate raucously in front of Diamondbacks fans. By the time the players took the plunge, the stadium was largely empty.

"I've never been around a celebration like this that didn't get excited and a little bit boisterous," Kasten said.

Diamondbacks infielder Willie Bloomquist was the most vocal critic of the Dodgers' actions.

"I think it's tired and disrespectful," Bloomquist said. "It's surprising, because they have a lot of veteran guys on that team that I thought were classier than that."

Nick Punto was the first to cannon-ball into the pool. Yasiel Puig later took a belly-flop, arms outspread.

If you don't want a team to celebrate a win on your home field, then step up and win. I'm not a fan of either team, so I don't care one way or the other, but you can't cry if you let another team clinch on your turf. It reminds me of when the Patriots beat the Chargers in the 2006 playoffs, a few players on San Diego cried like little schoolgirls. Win the game if you don't want it to happen!
