and the more i think about it, the more i am starting to like it.
i do not own any at this time.

when it comes to basketball, i consider Topps and Fleer to be the "Meat and Potatoes"
companies when it comes to basketball cardboard history. I also have to accept that
neither exist in the market as we enter 2011

i am not a big fan of GU or auto'd cards. i like base rookie cards. i realize that this
is FAR from "the norm" in BKB cardboard land.

i am also having a hard time finding a Topps/Fleer replacement that has been issued
by Panini in 09/10. The main problem i have the Panini is that their base sets that
actually feature non gu/auto rc's, feature 2-3 cards of each guy, very annoying.

Looks like their doing that again.
Just was looking at the Prestige checklist and I saw John Wall's with 2 different cards under base rc's.

Can always hope they have a new release planned for 10/11 or improve on the base Panini.
Even with the market the way it is - I'd have to imagine there is a place for a release like that. Topps base always seemed to do just fine.

Panini seems to at least be trying to provide at all price points......so hopefully they realized they could/should do a lower-end base type set, without it being as low-end, retail and kid centered as Panini seemed to be last year.

i spoke with Panini at length about just this at the National this year.

"Panini" Basketball will not be released in 10/11. it will be replaced by "Donruss" Basketball.

Depending on how well "Donruss" does, it will be the "base" issue going forward.

i dont know how this will do. Hopefully well (as its nice when everything goes well) it will
be interesting to see, since theres never been a "Donruss" Basketball release, ever.

Buy up the 2009-2010 topps chrome rookies... That set will be a lot like the original topps chrome set. I picked up a Curry for 12 dollars this year and a Holliday for 3... This set will explode in value down the line..

Hope so. I was able to pick up a Harden refractor tonight for $7.

i agree with you on this, i miss getting rookie refractors. but i am loving the fact that i can pick them up cheap because there is no auto or jersey on them
